F2000 to change or keep

So I recently upgraded from a 4mb line to FTTH 300mb with eir
I was supplied with the F2000 modem

I have the house wired with cat 5e to 9 rooms.
I have two 5port gigabit switches (didn't have a 16 port switch to hand, but will prob get one on cyber monday ) connected to the modem, and plan on switching off the WiFi on the f2000 and getting a BT whole home WiFi disc setup for WiFi around the house.

My question is,. .. is there a better modem/router to get, or will the f2000 be adequate ?

The majority of insitue equipment has a wired connection, via more 5port giga switches, ie TV/amp/Freesat/bd

I might upgrade to a 1Gb line in 12 months. Or I might not.

I've found the F2000 to be sufficient for LAN connections,
I was with Eir but now with virgin media because the ran fibre ti the entire area recently now get 400mb having upgrade to Belden 1694A cable from fibre optic to the router as its silver shielded.

    Anyway;
My mother has a Swann HD 4ch wireless camera system, and three Amazon echo aswell as two eir media boxs running off an F2000 router without any reduction in performance,
    I fitted an upgraded RJ45 cable purchased from Ebay;
Perhaps was a placebo but I think it improved stability

I've been holding off on getting an IP-CCTV system, and a few other smart systems, but now that I finally have a decent connection I want to have a decent modem/router.

I don't mind spending a bit of money for good equipment.

10 yrs ago I wired a new build with 5e.. only now am i getting to use it.

The only mistake I made was not running it thru a conduit so it could be upgraded.. but 10yrs ago . Who thought we'd see more than 1Gb .. 10 yrs ago I was struggling with 56k.

The F2000 is fine in my opinion. Why not try it first and if you are unhappy with some aspect replace it.

I've fitted pre terminated CAT7 capable of ten gig per second there two years ago and built an mdf panel in the attic with a one inch cavity on it to house a 1GB Lan router for each bedroom for IPTV etc.
Minimum use of wifi in the home,
I've run a 2" pond hose from the living room to a cavity wall in the kitchen to allow cables pass through to the attic,
Was then able to take the satellite cable off the outside of the house and route it from the chimney through the soffet and down through hotpress in to the living room,
I've a housing in the attic for a cctv hub to keep it secure which then can be viewed on any tv via an edision HDMI to RF modulator
I invested alot as it's my family home; which I'm sure you did yourself a few years ago too.
I've documented here if you ever suffer insomnia it's a good read to help put you asleep lol

    Impressive.

I wish I had enough room to stand or even crouch in my attic.

I put in the best I could do, or even knew about back in 2007/8

I ran 5e to every room, as cat6 was prohibitly expensive. Also ran 2x rf100 to every room with a 2satellite x 16 output multi-switch to provide Freesat and saorview everywhere.

    Oh.. simpler times

    Thanks for reading and feedback
I've not used any IP box's yet just got sky multiroom boxes purchased from Ebay one from Ireland and fitted uk sky cards in which gives loads of BBC's music channels, even More4 and Dave all free was €12 for each card on Ebay

I bought all cables from Amazon was the cheapest option
The RF100 will never expire like the cat5 unfortunately will eventually.

Going off topic, but have a look at Freesat box's with a hd, and connect them with an Ethernet cable to your internet.
The Freesat app allows you to remote record, and if you've a VPN you can access BBC iPlayer etc.
They also have Netflix build in

I'll keep the f2000 unless someone can suggest something better.

As I've said, I plan on running IP CCTV and lots more more, and want a modem than can do it all without issues.

And a 16 port switch is on the cards for December 2nd.

My intention is to keep the IP cameras on a separate sub net ..... maybe their own router so it keeps all their traffic isolated from everything else.

Are these not all Free to Air and require no sub or card ?

They possibly are I dont know; the easiest way I've found of getting them was by using a sky multiroom box and an unsubscribed uk sky card which provides the usual menu interface were all used to navigating and still costs nothing after purchase,
Got the multiroom boxs for €35 each on Ebay uk and the cards for €12
I'm sure theres other ways of achieving the same results; personally I chose the sky box's as the menu and TV guide is easy to operate.

Yes, I can understand that is the case for those who hate change yet move from a Sky subscription.

Personally I seriously dislike the Sky system and interface.
I much prefer to be able to manage my own and change it at will.
