Golf 2 cylinder mode error

Started the car this morning, a 152 Golf Mk7 DSG, and it stuttered on with a start/stop error. When driving, there is noticeably less power and the MFD no longer shows the speed but the fuel range left and flashes 2 cylinder mode.

Gonna bring it to a non-VW garage first to get a diagnostic test today hopefully, but any thoughts on what this might be?

Is it low on fuel (parked on a hill even), or did you select Eco mode or something?

Two Cylinder Mode is a fuel saving feature on the Golf. It's also used in some cars to limit overheating.

Well now I feel stupid, yup eco mode had been selected, although I thought that resets when the car is turned off (although I never intentionally turned it on). Thanks, you saved me an unnecessary visit to the garage!

So this has happened again, turns out its the battery that needs replacing, cause it's stop/start I'm been quoted €215, does that sound about right?

I can't comment on the specific price, but the deep cell batteries used for stop start cars are Indeed more expensive.
