Inside the Friends writers' room

Came across this interesting excerpt from an upcoming book (Generation Friends) that looks at life in the Friends writers' room. It's a pretty long read, but worth it if you like Friends or interested in the writing room process and setup.

While the title is "A Party Room and a Prison Cell," the excerpt makes it sound more like the latter. Very long days/nights regularly and some jokes that only came about because people had kinda lost their minds!
The last day of the workweek was widely known as Fraturday, as it often did not end until Saturday morning. “I think I just saw your beard grow,” Alexa Junge told Mike Sikowitz during one late night.

Worth reading to see some of the true stories that ended up becoming storylines or setpieces, how jokes are created, and the competitiveness within the writing room that existed.

I've idly had Friends on in the background while doing stuff on the laptop at home at homes as it's an easy watch, but enjoyed getting a bit more context and background.

    🤪
