I need to make some payments where cash, card or transfer just isn't practical & I no longer have a chequebook. Is there an alternative available in local branch?

Cumbersome and expensive, but you could buy a bank draft for the sum required - probably the best option if it's a large, one-off payment.  Or you could order a chequebook, which might be the way to go if you anticipate this need arising again.

    Hi Pburns,

Thanks for reaching out to us here with your query.

The advice offered by Peregrinus is correct, you may certainly get a bank draft to make the payment. You can get a bank draft straight away in a BOI branch with photo ID. There is a €2.40 charge for a bank draft (€1.90 bank charge and €0.50 Government stamp duty). If you don't plan on using many cheques this might be a better option than ordering a whole chequebook.

    Many thanks,
    Kat
