Diesel tank gloop clogging fuel pump

    Hi,

Removed the in-tank fuel pump over the weekend and noticed that the intake into the fuel pump was almost completely covered in a gum-like gloopy substance (see image).

What should I be adding to the tank in order to dissolve/remove the rest of this from the tank?

    Thanks.

You may have a diesel biological contamination, drain tank undo the fuel pump and make sure the tank is absolutely clean inside.
Then use a proprietary treatment, I have seen Fuel Set sold here but you may find one closer in a marine chandlery.

Bought the Marin 16 off eBay.

Wanted the Grotamar 82 but could not find a supplier. Will let you know how it goes.

So, I've had that gloop immersed in diesel with some of the Marine 16 added for the past 2 weeks. It has not been broken down yet.

Is it possible that this is something else?

What I've also noticed is that after every refill, the hunting gets worse. Possibly due to the tank getting agitated by the refueling???

What does that stuff look like? Is it slimy or papery?
You may be better off cleaning the tank manually, vacuuming it out with a wet/dry machine and seeing if its any better.
