Ent and bought some bark as I thought but it turns out to be mulch, my mistake. Was talking to my neighbour and he said bark is fine but mulch will attract rats!!! I have it at end of garden to put in around shrubs to suppress weeds, now I'm scared. Anyone know if this is the case.

Your neighbour is probably talking nonsense.

What is the mulch made of? Any ground cover can technically be a mulch - plants are mulch, carpet is mulch, grass is mulch.

Just read the bag and it says wood mulch.

Grand so, let's face it a commercial product for the garden is unlikely to be too successful if it was a known rat magnet :)

It won't. Animal feed attracts rats, bark mulch doesn't.
