Wife informed me she needs an automatic and I will be taking her Passat 09 tsi, budget is 10k with my 05 Passat as a sacrificial lambs trade in.

Looking for something reliable, probably petrol. She works three days a week with 35km commute each way. She was happy with the saloon size as the boot opens automatically. Nothing too heavy on the controls

I feel like getting her a gym membership!!

    All help appreciated

I normally suggest selling and buying straight but in this case I am going to recommend a trade in..............trade in the wife for a newer model!!

Nearly all cars are available in automatic, some more common than others, just filter auto under 12k to see what you are in range of
Merc, Audi, BMW are very common but you will have to stay well back in the years

Others less common but cheaper if you can find them for sale at the moment

Your Passat is worth very little to be honest

A 14 year old Passat is going to be worth nothing to a dealer, you will be better off selling it privately and negotiate a better straight deal (no trade-in) price off the new car.

Your choice in automatic petrol saloons similar in size to a Passat will be fairly limited here.
