    Similar - calling my brother to tell him our father had died, he was also about 8,000 km away, on holiday.

    Ringing my brother from the cop shop in Glasgow to inform him our other brother had died, was traumatic but a relief as well, pre internet and whatsapp days where I had to trace his number through the police phone directory.
