Unusual ownership history

I'm looking at buying a used Civic but I've spotted something strange in the ownership history (see below). Im just wondering is it odd that it was owned by garage for 10 months in 2017. Makes me wonder if it was crashed etc?

    from 11/10/2018 - Private (10 months)
    from 11/12/2017 - Garage (10 months)
    from 04/02/2011 - Private (6 years 10 months)
    from 28/10/2010 - Garage (3 months)
    from 29/09/2010 - Company (29 days)

    That's awfully odd.

Maybe the small Garage just had it as a service car.

I dunno, maybe ask them ??

Here's the link. I'm going to ask what the story is but I'm guessing I'll just get the 'we didn't own the car then so can't comment, works perfectly now' line.

Note that that’s the pre facelift model, the Civic got slightly revised in 2009. That would have been hanging around unsold and unregistered since 2008 I’d imagine.
That’s got a non standard front grille (I got it for my civic too) and the front end looks like it has been painted at some point. That’s not that unusual though as the shape of the front end means the bonnet can get stone chipped easily enough.

The more recent 10 month stint in a garage wouldn’t be overly concerning, it was probably just overpriced and stuck in stock.

It's a 2010 though so is not the facelifted model if it was revised in 2009? Yeah just would have thought it would be unusual for a 2nd hand card to go unsold for 10 months, maybe not though.

As a previous civic owner, is there anything else I should keep an eye out for when looking at it?

1.8 petrol may have been the reason

Not really. They’re really sought after post 2008.

They’re pretty bombproof in my experience. Make sure mirrors fold electrically properly. Make sure the blind for the panoramic roof works, check boot for leaks, check radio display. All small stuff.

The facelifted ones have different rear lights and slight differences on the interior, Aux In and a few other small things.. That’s just the older 2006 type. No big deal.

rember 2008 was the start of the recession, nothing was moving!

    What relevance is 2008?

It was garage owned for 10 months in 2017 which is what the OP is wondering about. Not to mention it’s a 2010 car.

Check out the 2nd photo on that dondeal link and look at the molded shape of the front bumper above the spotlights thats pointing towards the black plastic ( i assume )center grill, the left is much closer to it than the right side, spot the differance

It’s got the optional bumper protectors front and rear, the one on the passenger side front is missing. That’s all.

It’s part of a ‘city pack’
There were also weird colour coded strips you could get for the black moldings

The civics look a hell of a lot smarter with the colour coded bumper and trims but the only ones ive seen for sale here down south are all from the UK or NI.Thought this was a handy website for a bit of info on differant makes of cars, seems like honda are still haveing issues with paint peeling.Heres a link https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/honda/civic-2006/good/ and theres a comment that was only posted a week odd ago of a 2014 civic with peeling paint..
