Carpeting with skirting boards in place

    Hi all

This has probably been answered before but I can't find anything on it.

I've recently painted from top to bottom a room in my house. The carpet got damaged afterward and now needs to be replaced. Is there any way to replace it without removing the skirting boards? I know the answer is likely to be to pry them away from walls but they're 60+ years old and would almost certainly split if I did this and also the paint is literally just done so I'd bloody hate to damage it.

Thanks for any guidance you may have!

Pretty sure you don't need to remove skirting for carpets, we never have and have had no issues.

I don't think I've ever heard of skirting boards being removed to replace carpet. Why would you need to do that? The carpet will be attached to tack strips around the edge of the room surely?

No need to remove skirtings (or saddleboards).

As above, absolutely no need to do anything with the skirting boards. Have a look at this video to explain.
