Part time hours and casual dockets

I might be starting a new job next month tutoring beauty therapy evening classes in a FE college, I will only be working about 4 - 6 hours a week, the pay is good per hour but as the hours are so few it wont be enough to support myself.
I was on dockets before but I was docked by the days I worked not the hours, so if I work 2 hours one day, ill be down as having worked the entire day even though its only been 2 hours.
Im wondering if it would be worth my while taking the part time evening job as it could leave me worse off financially, I will also have to get public transport to and from the center costing extra money.
I dont want to ask in social welfare because theyve given me wrong information before and left me in a terrible state financially as a result so im reluctant to take their advice again.
What should I do? I obviously dont want to turn down work.

    Thanks

The way the department deal with dockets has not changed,as you said yourself you will be docked a day if you work any amount of hours on that given day.
The only thing i will say is if that part time position can be used as a stepping stone into something more permanent or to showcase your skills it just might be worth pursuing it.

It was dreadful for me when I had a part time job covering 16-20 hours per week over either 3 or 4 days.

Work 3 days, got 120 from JS, worked an additional 4 hour shift the next week netting me 40 euro and lost the JS of 120... and my manager wouldn't budge...

Quit the job in the end.
