I somehow had Irish tax rebate signed up on my revenue account, ive no memory of giving them my details, I only found out after I got a letter from revenue stating I would be getting tax back and a text from Irish tax rebate stating they will send me the tax within 7 working days minus a small fee.
So, I removed them from my revenue account and 10 days later, after still receiving no tax back, I contacted revenue who said the money looks to be still in this companies bank account.
Ive tried ringing Irish tax rebates but every time it just goes to voice mail, the phone rings for about 5 seconds before its cut off, ive left messages but have gotten no response, contacted their facebook page but again no reply. Ive heard of the company before and they sound like theyre a legit crowd but its worrying me that they havnt sent my money and wont answer the phones, I dont know what to think and dont really know what steps to take at this stage since I cant get through to them.

    Is this the crew?

    They are legit.

Here's how it works. When you sign up with these companies, you sign an authorisation that allows them to put their bank account info on your account with Revenue. This remains in place until you revoke that, and that's done with Revenue.

However, that refund that was paid out, is gone to the agents now. So it's out of Revenue's hands. The tax that was due back has been paid out, meaning there is no more tax due back to you, and that tax year is now balanced.

So Revenue have no part in the dispute here, it's exclusively between you and the agents. Try hiding your phone number next time you ring.

Must be good money in this type of business. Photos from their web site have ROS on the screens, just data captor and reentry. The even have their TAIN number in a shield, giving the impression they have some sort of official government approval.

When is the money (including lost growth) Michael Noonan took in the Pension Levy going to be paid back?

I think it was this crew that got in trouble before for using some form of language that made it seem as though they were officially endorsed by Revenue

How much did they deduct as a fee?

That's something I'd also like to know, but just don't understand how they are still in business, the revenue's online service is straightforward, people are literally giving money away due to laziness or not knowing they can do it themselves.

People are generally idiots. Also people are terrified by Revenue.

At the end of the day they need to have people on low wages doing a high volume of cases with very low supervision to succeed at this.

A lot of the cases they process has a low refund and therefore a low fee.

    Let's say they pay staff 1500 a month (18k a year). That's 375 a week of work (20 days holidays).

If the average refund is €200 (€18 fee) they need to do 21 cases a week to cover their salary. Let's say 42 cases a week to cover overheads and marketing expenses. That's a very high volume of cases to cover bottom level salaries.

I imagine most of their staff are commission based, not salaried.

It's fair easy to do it yourself through ROS, same with claiming medical expenses. They even have an app that you can upload medical receipts etc in case they ever audit you and you lost the receipt. I got 400 back for root canals that took about 5 mins on ROS and the app, and had the money in my bank in 2 days

They're leaches. Like the companies masquerading as official Esta agents when they're just taking your information and inputting it on a screen and charging you for that privilege.

See this 'official' esta website

    https://www.official-esta.com/

Anyway I'm off topic here so I'll leave it there.
