Easiest to keep "clean" by a country mile though!

And speaking of country silver doesn't show up all the scratches from overgrown ditches as bad as other colours.

Depends on the car and the shade of silver, but yes - it’s considered boring because of its popularity.

Silver/grey is still the most popular colour at 38% of new cars.

Silver is common, but is it unfashionable?
In South Africa there is a vast majority of white cars, they never go out of fashion.

White cars are getting popular here too, for better or worse.

Not at all, silver can look great on some cars, super easy to keep clean, doesn't show chips and scuffs as much as dark car and with a good wax looks like new. We have wheat beige and silver Superb in the family, and the silver car looks far more striking.

The only two cars that look okay in silver are Toyotas and Lexus. Other then that, it looks boring. Anyone who goes for silver usually means: I just need car for transport, nothing else.

I do like some of the dark grey stuff colours on some makes. My neighbor got 172 Civic in dark grey with blackbird and it looks very nice.
My preference is still White, but I liked white cars before it became "cool".
You know that white got popular, because when you order new car, white is an option now, not standard.

Pearlescent white might be optional extra but normal white is usually standard price.

It's all about grey these days.

What’s interesting (or is it?) on the beep beep stats is that colour combinations are a thing. So cars with different coloured roof are listed as red and grey now for example instead of multicoloured.

Great colour if you're into elasticated trousers, cardigans and slip on shoes. It's a sign you've given up on life.

What car do you think sums up this the best?

In most of the hotter countries white is quite a popular colour as it slows down how quickly cars heat up, particularly with a windscreen reflector or light coloured interior.

Jump into a dark coloured car on a regular basis and you will quickly appreciate the simple practicality of white IMO.

Exactly, that is why I have a car in silver. It is just a transport, which is serviced regularly and I expect it to get me where I want, but you won't find me tinkering with it or clean and wax it every Saturday.

Silver is a great color especially in older vehicles..doesn't fade like some red etc..and also not bad if car has scratches etc.. but as a colour for a new car it ain't popular

I think Black is more Old fashioned than silver, some great silvers in both Audi and BMW. easy to keep clean. Its all a matter of choice really.

I saw a silver F30 3 series M Sport recently and thought it looked the business. Depends on the car hugely

Just to add my 2 cents..... A otherwise fantastic car can look very, very plain, underwhelming and ordinary in silver... Poor choice in my opinion.

Had silver on my Octavia vRS combi and it suited it to a T.

Wife has a silver 151 Rio and it looks pretty good, when it's clean.

It's more a light gold, but it must be the worst name for a colour ever.

So long as it not black, white, or red, (or brown) I couldn't care less. Unless I was buying a new car.

Having said that, some cars look desperate in certain colours. Occasionally I have pointed a car out to the missus and remarked that someone went into a car dealers to purchase a brand new car, and of all the colours available, picked the absolute worst one possible.

Silver was usually a safe colour when it came to selling on one of the 3 series i had was white looked well until the rust set in but the colour had gone out of fashion

Thought it was a bit too understated in the silver. Wasn’t ever a fan of the Mk2 facelift. Thought the red one was way nicer.

I've a black audi a6 s line 2014 and the neighbour has exact same car in silver , exact same spec, wheels, trim etc and every time my black car is showing dirt I look at his and it looks spotless.
Last 2 times I was buying a car I swore blind I'd stick to silver but another colour caught my eye.
A nice car is a nice car in silver in my opinion.

I never actually got cozy with the red one, I loved the combi though.
Even thought about buying it back earlier this year :D

White seems to have suddenly gone out of fashion again - almost as quickly as it came back in.

All I know was that it was a hoor to keep clean, worse than black in some ways.

*not a typical petrol head car - God forbid someone doesn't buy a BMW and wax it 3 times a week..

My landcruiser is silver, and looks easily 5 years newer than the same model in any other colour (pretty much every other colour was two-tone which didn't help)
Amazing how it hides road dirt and scratches though. And no, I haven't given up on life, or wear stretchy trousers or any of the other juvenile statements about car colour.. one day you'll be big.
