    Hi folks.

I was due to travel from Vienna to krakow today. But the flight was Cancelled on the way to the airport.

Next flight from the company (Lauda) was Saturday. Or take a 6 hour bus instead.

I opted to book with another company into Warsaw. It cost me an extra 100 euro to book the new flight.

Allianz said they will only offer me 10 to 20 euro if the flight is delayed, but nothing for a cancellation.

Is there right? As the next alternative flight was Saturday?

No one can comment on the terms of an unseen insurance policy. But you should be entitled to €250 compensation from Lauda for the last minute cancellation, under EC261/2004. Claim here: https://eu261compensationclaims.ryanair.com/

should that not be €250 on top of the cost of the replacement flight ?

as for the cancellation, why should the insurance pay when your airline is already bound by law to sort you out ?

Lauda are under no obligation to pay for a flight on another airline and the OP didn't fancy waiting a few days for the next Lauda flight (who would!), so I presume they got a refund.

Imagine waiting till Saturday and then the next flight gets cancelled.

How many nights hotel accommodation are Airlines bound by law to pay? They gave us the option of a bus to krakow, or Refund.

What does the compensation cover. Just the inconvenience of the cancellation?

    Sorted. Thanks for the link.

"We sincerely regret the cancellation of your flight OE 1304 from Vienna to Krakow on 07/08/2019. We would like to confirm that compensation to the value of 250 EUR has been processed by Laudamotion into the bank account you have provided. This payment is in full and final settlement of your claim and in accordance with Article 7 of EU Regulation 261/2004. Please allow 21 working days to receive this payment"

They wouldn't refund my new flight tho. But I'll take that.
