My friend has a 20m old netherland dwarf rabbit. Fully vaccinated but not neutered.

Was going away for a couple of weeks and put her in a boarding place.

It now transpires that there was a mix up and she was put in an outdoor pen with a male rabbit also not neutered . Chances are she is knocked up but my friend is worried about her age and risks involved.

She is going to a vet tomorrow but just wondering would any one know what the risks would be for a first time mother at that age.

20 months is not an old rabbit so she should be fine. Hopefully the male rabbit was not huge in size. She just needs to prepare the rabbits living area for babies. She would need somewhere private for her babies & extra bedding. She may pull out some of her own fur for this.

I think they were under the impression after 1 as a first time mother was risky

Rabbits live 8-12 years on average. She’s only young, she should be fine. That was some mix up by the boarding place though!!
I’d advise your friends to get her spayed at the next opportunity as there’s an extremely high chance of unspayed females developing cancer.
