I'm loving reeling in the years at the moment, but keep wondering "where are they now?" Is yet man who scaled the twin towers someone's grandad now? Where are those people lobbing rocks at the guards at riots? Where are those kids who solved the rubix cube on the late late. So, did ya ever see someone you know on Reeling in the Years?

I shook Charlie Haughey's hand once during the 1981 election campaign. I was on my uncle's shoulders at the time. God I miss that man, Charlie Jay that is. Sadly missed.

Always Tired

In the 1994 episode when they are doing Ireland world cup highlights at round the 8.00 mark after the text says 'A draw with Norway...' and the keeper hugs the manager there is a shot of a funny looking bloke with glasses cheering right into the camera with a tricolour waving.

He was my Dads mate who lived in America the same time we did, and went down to Orlando for the World Cup. He gave a speech at my sister's wedding in Spain last year as my father is dead, really great funny bloke who looks pretty much the same, still wears big round glasses. I dunno if he's even aware that he's on it, I forgot to ask him about it and that was the only time Ive seen him in 20 odd years.
