What can be done when you feel like Empower are overstepping their mark?

I raised a formal complaint and the next meeting hes sitting there with it in his hand, picking bits to raise with me, data issue as i'm sure this should be confidential

Go up today to be told on job club for two hours once a week and told to sign to agree to it, had to push to have a new thing to sign with a review date

I've given them and the social welfare proof of job applications, I have them on indeed etc under my account to back this up

Is there anything that can be done?

Get a job, so you don't have to deal with them any more.

Or get your doctor to support an application to get you moved onto Invalidity Pension.

Wish i could get a job, applying to various types and getting nowhere and of course these places don't help just bully people

Don't think I'd like to go that route as would likely hang myself and say the wrong thing to the wrong person

Im not trying to sound rude but if you are having no luck with jobs of various types as you say, wouldn't a jobsclub be somewhat of a help, they can help with your CV and the likes and interviews, 2 hours a week aint bad for free help.

Been there done that over and over

Seetec twice, numerous goes at LES
    Tried springboard, Jobridge, jobpath

They don't ever train or send you out a better person, wave the do this our we'll tell the dole and you know what happens stick at you

Today was likely cause I pulled him up on attitude and then had the cheek to say couldn't make a meeting with 3 days notice

I'm all for getting a job and training etc if it's beneficial, not just bully you in hope of signing off

Worked in factory for years until the "son" of the owner took over and turned the place over to get the most bang for less buck and ran almost all the old staff out

Then on and off different places with not much luck

Decided to up skill from warehouse to i.t etc and done courses and then tried jobridge as a way to show good worker etc, but didn't work out

When you're in before paid workers who then tell you to come in 1030 and make up excuses on jobridge you wonder what more can you do

Your attitude is not coming across too well on this thread to be honest. I wonder if it's holding you back?

While i agree that bullying that i hear of is bad the facts are that too many of the people are just spongers of the state and dont want jobs. There are tonnes of jobs outhere.

Im back in Dublin living for 9 months, moved home after 7 years in the UK working in various jobs, after 2 months eventhough my wife works and i look after our 20 month old we struggled for money, i went to the social welfare explained the situation, the guy was sound and got me some money but after a few months i need to produce my wifes payslips, when check we were over a threshold as i could no longer keep my claim open but was thankfull of atleast some money at the time and thank you for the help.

I walked from the social welfare into the jobsclub for a chat with anyone about wanting to genuinely find work as i was going crazy at home, was asked by someone impartial what do i want to do right now, ive been asked that for months but always from friends or family, a stranger asking in a nice tone helped.

I sorta knew that i want training for forklift certificates, due to IKEA, the industrial estates in north Dublin, shift work to work opposite my wife and still see my daughter. They immediately contacted Irish school of motoring, paid the full training costs and allowed me to choose a start date. Today was my first day of training, ive already been offered work once my certs are complete.
Give it a go, its better upskilling than sitting around annoyed you cant get anything imo

You are required to be available and looking for work from 9-5 Monday to Friday. If you are not available on any day you need to go to the social welfare office and sign off for that day. There is no reason you shouldn't be able to make a meeting on a day you are being paid to be available on. Even if it was a few hours notice.

Yes. You didn't even read what I said. I said your posts on this thread show a bad attitude and asked if that might be holding you back in real life. I'd not want to work with someone who comes across as you do.

The common demoninator in several scenarios you've mentioned is you yet someone else always seems to be at fault.

If you don't like the wage find a better one yourself. You were on 250 to work a full week which is only 130 less than someone who found the job themselves get and they have to pay PRSI, usc and rent from that 130 more.

Even applied to their recruitment team for a position and tried to get head trainer name etc to put down as reference

Enjoy the training, hopefully you got picked to go onto advance class on the 1st day, so much better and easier group

His name is John Doran, your cert is probably signed by him, i wasnt picked for any advanced class in fact i was slow at the begining but did well at the end.

With 3 forklift certs you really shouldnt have an issue finding work if im honest. If its the wages while i dont agree i can understand. Its better to do something than sit around, feeling bullied and down about it.

Check your phones usage stats, if any app is over 2 hour per week you are not looking hard enough (Jobs.ie, Indeed etc excluded)

    Where are you based ?

I'll put him down at reference so thanks, one of the other lads signed it, that's good, great trainers there, so if you can pass they'll get you passed

Money isn't the issue, done enough intern etc work in hope of getting work, can always move on or they want to keep you and match wages of other place

    I'm in Blanchardstown

What IT courses did you do? Have you tried ebay/paypal/IBM? Or the shops on the Blanch center?

Two Fetac ones, building pcs, customer care, ECDL which I had already, comptia N+(failed exam)

Tried a good few places(even as a teacher) and did a day in a place who ended up telling me he was only doing jobridge as couldn't afford to pay extra staff

Most be wanting 3rd level like college but I can put my hand to most tech and pick it up fairly fast

Yes most places do want a degree. Building pcs and customer are not great qualofications they are very basic entry levwl roles.

Have you tried repeating Comptia? Or would you consider doing a degree is you are really interested in IT? It's not for everyone tbh

Least I manged to build some pcs and do maintenance on them so some benefit came from it.

The way it was taught (4 plus hours block) and never bothering with maths in school would make me not want to revisit it

At this stage I'm aiming for warehouse or more administration or something in middle with knowing tech a bonus if stuff needs fixing (up sell I throw in if I get interviews)

Fair enough. I'd say attend the job club and get advice on your cv and interview skills

Thats the best attitude though, just be yourself and honest and really want it to work. Ive seen so many threads here about certs/qualifications/degrees needed you can get somewhere with a good attitude and willing to put in work atleast im convinced of that and have friends do the same.

Do you actually want to work full time or part time ? not to pry but in my case i would like to work opposite shifts to my wife at the moment so we both are around her as we wont have them years back. Im a simple enough family guy that likes an open fire and basic things, lead me to warehouse work, shifts, industrial estates, IKEA, etc in my case and previously worked in dublin port

WHEN i get my certs , from my free training, and can go back to work for my own mental health lol, i will be thankfull that tax was spent properly on someone wanting a real work life balance and not above or below standards.

You like IT and have warehouse work ? whats the system they use for tracking purposes ? forgive me if its the one previously mentioned. Find the name research it and find someway combining the two in a job like traffic clerk at dublin port.

I think you will be ok with a good positive outlook, its hard getting rejected alot but head lad :)
