Travel - broken leg - travel insurance

My son broke his leg at end of May - plaster removed a couple of weeks ago, but still reports it being sore, and finding it difficult to put foot fully on the ground. We had a holiday booked for June (4 days) and had to cancel - the holiday was booked since last year. We have a holiday booked for Austria for 10 nights in 10 days time. The holiday was both sightseeing and walking. My daughter doesn't mind whether she goes or not. My son has always wanted to go to Austria but is now not sure given his slow recovery from his broken leg. I would like to go but a worried re my son's injury, and will he find it tough just walking around sightseeing. It will probably be our last family holiday for a while as children are late teens. I am also worried re travel insurance We made a claim when my son broke his leg as it was a few days before we were due to travel, and we were traveling for an activity holiday. I presume if we have another injury on holiday related to the broken leg, or caused because he has a broken leg, that the travel insurance won't cover us? Does anyone here know about this sort of stuff? What would you do re holiday as a whole, go or cancel it?

Pretty sure most holiday insurance covers injury while on holiday, not before it.

It should be pretty exceptional to allow cancellation prior to holiday (usually a death)

Is there a reason why everyone else doesnt travel on the holiday ? Everyone else is fully capable of taking part. Call insurance company and see what they say about potential to claim in event of further incident, it could be a one claim per policy or it may not, only they can tell you.

Many families have travelled with a child or even adult who has a broken arm, leg, finger, toe etc, it’s more of a challenge but no reason why your son couldn’t travel and the rest of the family can enjoy activities while his leg improves.

One of the main benefits of TI is cover for inability to travel for medical issues that occur prior to the trip, it is why insurance should be taken out as soon as a trip is booked not a day before the trip commences.

OP get medical advice, it may be that the injury will heal with activity or be negatively impacted by doing too much.

If it recommended that he does not travel then contact the insurance, there is no blanket ban on multiple claims, except for injuries/conditions present before the policy was taken out and not declared.

It will be down to the t&c in the policy so read it carefully before claiming.
