Looking to set up a little gym at home. Something like what's in the link below to start off. Has anyone bought from this company before? If so, what's the quality like or has anyone other recommendations?

Is the height from floor to ceiling six foot?

That is so short that even shorty/garage racks will not fit. Depending on your height I guess squat stands may be an option, but you won’t be able to go overhead at all.

What are you thinking of putting in?

    yea 6ft - very short! i'm 5 7 so i'm able to walk / stand there. i didn't get buy-in to use a bedroom as a gym - it became guest bedroom - but i'm hoping to renovate and build a shed to buy a 2m x 2m multi-gym a year+ later.

    planning to get
    - a bench for incline, decline, and sitting DB overhead press. no idea what is a good option - any suggestions?
    - flooring for cushioning - ordered this from mcsport,
    - i have dumbbells including adjustable (5, 9, 16kgs pairs, and adjustable pair), do you think DB stands help?
    - add a anchor to the wall to run resistant bands through for lat pull down - maybe 2 anchors will allow pec fly

dunno what else will fit and benefit. what did you get eventually and how has your experience been?

An adjustable bench and range of dumbbells sound like your best bet. You can do everything with them provided you have heavy enough DBs.

For upper body: You have flat bench, incline bench, seated press, DB pullover, DB flyes, bent over row, reverse incline row... Lie on the floor and you have lying DB flye and DB floor press. Can obviously also do push ups.

For direct arm training you have all kinds of curls, standing and seated, lying tricep extensions, overhead single arm extensions...

For shoulders and upper back you have side raises, front raises, bent rear flyes, YTWs, seated DB power cleans, DB upright row, DB shrugs... If you add bands you can do a tonne more stuff.

For lower body you have DB squats, DB swings, DB RDL, DB step ups, DB lunge variations, Bulgarian split squats etc.

If you’re not using a barbell then to be honest the flooring doesn’t really matter.

If you were building up a wide selection of DB pairs then a DB rack is great for a garage gym set up .. But too much hassle for an attic I think.

I would add a pull up bar somewhere in the house and do pull ups, band pull downs, press downs and so on.

To be honest I would save the rest of your money for when you can do your shed gym properly, and add bar, plates, rack, multi gym or whatever you have in mind.

    Thanks for the pointers!

thinking through the aspects you mentioned:

    1) I ordered these floorings (https://www.mcsport.ie/collections/gym-flooring-2563/products/hit-fitness-gym-flooring-1m-1m-20mm-black) from mcsport. now that i've ordered them i'll keep them but i see your point about not needing too much when its just attic gym with no barbell weights.
    2) I was thinking of putting a pull bar at the stairs from attic to 1st floor - pic attached - but I guess I cannot do press downs if I put it here?
    3) I was thinking of an "anchor gym" - https://smile.amazon.co.uk/Hammer-Anchor-Shipping-consists-included/dp/B00ESH81FW?sa-no-redirect=1 - to allow me to put resistance bands + sit down on the floor -> do lat pull down or triceps press down (right name?). couldn't yet find any good options for that metal hook thingie in Ireland. any suggestions around that?
    4) do you think there is any value in dumbbell stand to keep dumbbells at waist height instead of ground height?

Where you’re thinking of the pull-up bar is hard to be definitive on, if you can safely do pull-ups there you should be able to do band press downs too, don’t see why not. To be honest I would prefer a doorway chin up bar set up, one that hooks over a door frame rather than being within the doorway itself.

The anchor gym is fine but not necessary if you have a pull bar, adjustable bench and DBs. But I haven’t used them. I would sooner just throw a band over a beam, goal post, pul up bar etc.

If by DB stand you mean a DB rack, yes, they are great. But check your dimensions, do you really want to assemble one in your attic? Maybe.
