Handbrake switch bypass?

    Hi,

Have a fiat punto with what I think is a dodgy handbrake switch resulting in a brake warning light on the dash. The reason i believe its the switch is that the brake light used to flash on randomly when driving and gradually got worse to the point its always on now. I had a brake line failure a few weeks back and when getting the brakes bled the garage mentioned the switch also. Pads, fluid etc are all good, braking fine and handbrake fine. When I manually press the switch will the car is on it makes no noticeable click so presume its dead.

Need to try and get car through nct so finally managed to remove the switch but while searching a replacement online I wondered would it be feasible to close the circuit permanently? I only need to hold onto the car for a few more months before I'm replacing it so not too bothered as the switch is pretty much useless anyway. I tried opening up the switch to check connections but it doesn't open easily although I have read of people managing it online so might keep trying a bit longer.

Is this possible? The plug has two pins so could I just connect these with a wire into each hole?

Parking brake warning light is part of the test (section 60 of NCT manual)

Is the light on or off with switch disconnected?

Beware of things dropping down around handbrake stopping handbrake going down enough to cancel switch.
