Anyone familiar with getting fridge, washing machine, dishwasher from UK at a lower cost?
I am in the process of moving to a house and looking for best available deals.

    Any help is appreciated!

The most important thing to check out is, Are the appliances covered by warranty here in the ROI.

Even if they are, Irish consumer protection is superior here than in the UK.

Shop around in Ireland. I can’t see you saving the cost of transporting them.

And what will happen in November after the UK leaves the EU. They might not be able to or care about dealing with issues that arise outside of the UK.

What appliances are you looking for and any brands in mind?

It's worth remembering that warrantys may not be honoured if the UK crashes out of the EU in a few months & more important EU consumer law might offer no protection after Brexit.

Personally I'd be buying here in Ireland. Curry's, power city, DID, Harvey Norman etc are usually pretty keen on pricing

Samsung or LG American type fridge, Samsung washing machine, same goes for microwave, dishwasher, etc.

It looks its not a great idea to get them from UK due to brexit, warranty, etc.

Do you know if currys would keep my item for 3 months if I pay in full? I missed Samsung ecobubble washing machine which was on sale & as my home is not ready yet to move in.

Your best bet is bout 3 weeks before you need your appliances write a list of what you want and try did Harvey Norman powercity haggle and see who will do the best deal where abouts in Ireland are you

Totally agree. If you are buy a few large appliance together Power City they will give you the sale price all year round. If you buy during a sale then they usually can't discount any further

Powercity still has discounted rates for the appliances we liked.
Do they have a good post sales office in case there is an issue with the device? And do they do installation?

Yes powercity do installation back up service should be fine as all shops just log service call with the brand just keep your invoice for proof of purchase. Try did first then Harvey Norman then powercity don't be afraid to tell them that your pricing around

    Thanks for the help.

Well Harvey Norman has the highest price, I found Currys better with wider range available. But powercity beats them all :) it's unfortunate they don't have powercity in Limerick.

Curry's is going to be interesting if there's a no deal brexit. Try jack Fitzgerald euronics in Limerick you might be surprised by your own local electrical shops

    They deliver.
I got a dual fuel cooker for. 499, was 900.

Delivery to Kerry was 35. Powercity after sales service is second to none.

Masterboy, get yourself down to Finucanes electrical in Eastway opposite the NCT. I kitted out my whole house 4 years ago and they were better than HN, soundstore et al. Plus they are a locally owned family run set up so your euro actually stays in Limerick rather off to the UK or Australia. I bought a kettle in HN and it was faulty (awful plastic taste that wouldnt go) and they wouldnt help me. I had to return something to Finucanes and it was swapped out no questions asked.

Thanks. Will go to Finucanes electrical this week and see what range of appliances they have.
    Any issues post sales?

I bought a Russell Hobbs kettle in HN which had an awful taste and they refused to replace so when I bought a new one in Finucanes I got another Russell Hobbs which also went on and broke. I brought it back to Finucanes and it was changed without quibble of any type. You can haggle with them to be fair but it is the great aftersales and fact I will go out of my way tosupport a local business when I can.

    Great to hear this.

Have you tried Jack Fitzgerald? Someone here mentioned they are good also and locals.

Bought a TV there actually and found them good to deal with. I had them quote me on the house package but Finucanes were better on price but not by much. The margin on electricals is very slim I'm told.
