    How hard have you tried? Have you clamped the seat post in a bench vice and used the frame as leverage?

    Turned the bike upside down and Poured coke in though the BB to the seat tube and left it to penetrate overnight?

    Start seeping wd 40 in at the join. Keep at it bit by bit for a good while, then stand with frame between your legs and give the seat a good twist.

    I have one in the LBS. they say they have a spray/liquid for the job but there is always a risk to the frame

    phew, my advice was to buy a new bike.

    the fact you have resolved your issue, does not change my advice though.:)
