VRT question

    hi lads, sorry another vrt question.

    want to bring in a daihatsu fourtrak from the uk as a 2nd vehicle for the winter months.

    plenty of clean ones in the uk but none here in ireland. i will be converting it to 2 seat commercial asap.

    do i bring it in as a passenger and vrt it then convert it or can i do the conversion then vrt it as a commercial.

    Convert it then VRT it.

    Keep in mind if you pay passenger VRT (€700 id say) and then convert it, you can leave the windows clear and you don’t need the flat floor.

    That was the case a few years ago anyway.

    Think the rules have got tighter... You will be required to get it weighed also and engineer report for any changes.

    I had a trooper which was lwb and had been changed to commercial but kept windows anyway but when I went to test it wouldn't pass as belts and seat fixings were still able to be fitted back. This had passed numerous times before o got it....

    Ah yeah 10 years ago when I did mine you had to weld over the seat belt fixings. That’s not new.

    No I get that but I dealt more in pick ups but had to get it weighed and checked over etc each time.

    This business of changing out the seats etc has got tighter since too.

    Many models now don't suit.

    Convert, get SQI form filled out by qualified engineer then bring it in for VRT with SQI and all other docs.
