    Hi,

My partner is on a decision facto visa. She may have to go back to oz for awhile and I am just wondering how long she can go for before her visa is breached??

    Is there a time limit?

When you say she is "on a de facto visa", did she arrive on a single-entry long stay de facto visa? And, since arriving, has she applied for residency? And, if she has, is the application still pending, or has she had a decision? And, if she has, what was the decision?

    Hi,

Thanks for response. She is on a stamp 4 de facto visa for almost a year. We are up for renewal in a few weeks.

We have not applied for residency as it has only been a year and we are not married.

She needs to go home next year for a decent length of time to complete some issues with her teaching degree and just wondering how long she is allowed out of the country without it causing issues with the visa??

Does she have an IRP Card? (What used to be called a GNIB Card until a couple of years ago).

If she does, she can leave Ireland and re-enter up until the expiry date printed on the IRP Card.

If she doesn't, then she can only leave and re-enter if she has a multiple entry visa (which should be noted in the stamp on her passport), or if she now applies for and obtains a re-entry visa.

Note that the multiple entry visa re-entry visa system is being discontinued, and - I'm not quite sure about this - it may already have been discontinued. So if she doesn't have an IRP Card but does have a multiple-entry visa I would double check with INIS whether she can still rely on a multiple-entry visa to re-enter the country. It may be that they will tell her no, she needs to obtain an IRP card before she leaves, if she wants to re-enter.
