Apologies if this is not the correct seciton or if this has been asked already.
would anybody know who has owenrship of the land on the other site of lough gates to the lough house?

There is a lough on one of the routes i bring the dog for a walk and has signs of private property across the lough and i have been approaced when attempting to access the land across the canal.

    thanks in advance.

I presume you mean lock as in sluice for regulating water level along a stretch of canal, and not lough as in lake?

The answer may depend on which canal this is. So can you name the canal?

Also, it's not clear to me whether you can't approach the lock at all - i.e. the towpath is closed, so you can't proceed along the canal past a certain point - or it's just that you can't get on the lock structure itself, and use it to cross to the other side of the canal. Can you clarify?
