Thinking of having a look at this over weekend. Any one with experience?

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/skoda-superb-1-6-tdi-cr-elegance-finance-available/21428886

Thats a nice well specced example, in very good condition, and personally, I'd go for it. We have 4 Skoda's in the Family, 2 x Octavia's and 2 x Superb's, no hesitation in recommending them to anyone. INHO, the 2.0 ltr is the best option, if it's available...but the 1.6 does the job too....will cruise all day long on the motorway @ 120 Kph ( or higher ) Just check the service history on it....no history, walk. Servicing is the secret of long life car's, and this applie's to ANY make of car.
Good Luck if you decide to purchase, and let us know how you get on..:)

Would prefer the 2l alright but daughter starting to drive next year so need the 1.6 for insurance reasons. Already have audi a6 so this would be the smaller car.

See if you can find out if cambelt has been done, 111,000 miles is short of the recommended mileage interval, but exceeds the 4 year time recommendation. Also the water pumps are a weak point on the 1.6 engine.

How expensive would these be to get done

    Skoda.ie reckons €450 using reg 11mn599 as a guide

Brilliant car. I had a 2012 model, 2.0. Traded it in for a 2015 superb, not one issue with it , 285,000kms on the clock . Very reliable

That ad has 2 different NCTs posted in it. Ask for the reg before looking at, to confirm when it's actually due.

My mechanic said stay well clear of 1.6 as they are trouble....

    Underpowered for size of car.

Was worried about this. Anyone have any experience of the 1.6 model. I know everyone seems to love 2l model.
Any other recommendations. I recently moved and have a 70km round trip to do 6 days a week. I'm also 6ft 4 so need space. In around 10k is budget(preferably less). Thanks for comments so far.

The 1.6 can give EGR trouble, which is very expensive. Especially if it’s had the emissions fix.

Why not just drop back a year and go for a 2.0 litre or source one from the UK?

Insurance for daughter on 2l would be mad I'd imagine

perhaps check youd be surprised it will probably be negligible to what the 1.6 will cost

Sure with insurance it's absolutely bananas and nobody knows what it will be on anything...

    Do a few online quotes.

Don't fear the reaper. I was recently quoted 2,200, but my renewal was more than half it. So I just kept where I was. They don't follow their own rules either. I used to look for Older, larger Engine cars and quotes went down, not up.

    I’ve a 2011 1.6 .. which has just tipped past 350,000km on the clock.

Averaging 4.6l/100km as tracked on the Fuelly App for the last 240,000km.

It is serviced on the button and to date out side of usual consumables all that it’s needed has been

Water pump and chain - pump had a very small leak at about 190,000 and mechanics did the belt at the same time.

Had to replace one of the headlight bulbs - €250 from the dealer (300,000km)

New discs all round at 290,000 km

There will be some suspension work.

Some of the dash lighting has gone .. so only half the speedo and rev counter are illuminated at night .. haven’t been arsed getting it looked at.

I’ve never had to top up oil between services.

It’s still as comfy as the day I bought it and all the ‘elegance’ spec bits and pieces still work

Has passed each NCT first time with no pre-nct service

The 1.6 is no rocket ship .. but I’ve had it to the south of France with the kids, luggage and roof box without a bother.

It’s a work horse to me and I’ll keep putting miles on to it until it decides enough is enough.

Have a 142 1.6 tdi taxi with 264000km on it,great car,I know fellow drivers that have got up to 350/400000km,great fuel economy on motorways, the 1.6 is a little underpowered but is still grand with 4 people and bags.

If your looking for reliability I don't think you can go wrong,

I have a 2010 1.9tdi with 538,000km up on it. Great car and very reliable. Serviced every six months due to the mileage that I do.

    I have a 2010 Skoda Superb 1.8TSI Elegance.
The battery was wrong size when I got it.
    13kg 026 instead of a 20kg 096
    Water pump failed 6 moths
Nice car to drive, but the petrol tank is a little small and an odd shape so when it hit the red it looks almost empty but still has a 1/4 left.
No reversing Camera, but has parking sensors.
    15238759-bace-4a91-9e33-20045a08d5fd._CR0,0,970,600_PT0_SX970__.jpg
I recently replaced the sav nav with a EONON GA9353 that has an option for a reversing Camera.
    https://www.amazon.co.uk/eonon-GA9353-Navigation-Touchscreen-Compatible/dp/B07RHX1S3Z/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=EONON+GA9353&qid=1564678273&s=gateway&sr=8-2
Like most modern petrol engines the oil level needs to be checked and topped up between oil changes.
Xenon head lights are very expensive to replace.
€680 before vat from dealer. I got one for a scrap yard for €150.
Sat nav that came with car was well out of date maps. I go new maps for €25 approx on ebay. dealer I think is more like €180.
