Hi I have a 99 Nissan micra, wonderful but sadly rust is taking it off the road :(
Went to see a 2004 nissan micra, great condition, only 83,000 miles on it
It s been sold for under €1000 by a small garage...

Have heard in last few days, that this model of micra was a nightmare- lots of problems, no where near as reliable as the 99 model and that u don't see very many out on the roads...
    Anyone heard similar?

I had a 2004 one (an import) for about 4 years. We put a lot of mileage on it.

We had to do the head gasket as it was overheating, and the heater fan broke (not worth fixing - dashboard out job), but other than that it was a dependable yoke.

There are tonnes of them still on the roads, and parts are plentyful.

Not as nice to drive as the previous model though (not that that was great either).

One big issue is the electric power steering going and very expensive fix and coded to car i believe.

The version you have OP is the K11, great yoke except for the cross member that rusts
After that came K12 - not great, not crap. Somewhere in between.

    Stuff to look out for

    Ignition barrels give trouble too.

They’re a pretty unpleasant car overall though.

    Get a pre 2006 Yaris.

Timing chains stretch on them too and usually need changing.

Funnily enough, was a problem with the ignition on this particular 04 car....but was fixed by mechanic

Did you get a insurance quote on the 01 ?

    Quotes:
    04 Micra was € 311
    01 Yaris is €588 !

    Ouch! :0

Why not go up the years on a Yaris.

They've just happened to come my way so went to look them over..
But yes, a younger model Yaris sounds like a good idea
Haven't quite got the energy or finances! to start looking up adverts, going to garages etc
But know I'll have to eventually!

Donedeal best bet, don't limit yourself to garages especially when nowhere near new or worth the extra money....

Before any purchase get it checked over unless you know cars.

It will be well worth throwing a mechanic a few quid to look it over for you.

Try and go at least post mid 2003 on the Yaris as the older ones don’t have ABS.
