    Quick Question

I've loaned a friend €500, with the promise of getting it back the following week.

Needless to say excuse after excuse followed and I haven't got it back.

    He has now moved away.

Is small claims court an option for me??

    Any advice would be great!

Consumer claims cannot be made through the small claims procedure for debts, personal injuries or breach of leasing or hire-purchase agreements.

    Maybe someone else can advise.

You can so in the District Court.

Forget it. Even if you get a judgement in your favour you're going to have to enforce it against someone that needs to borrow money and then can't afford to pay it back.

Yes it is an option and an easy and economical one.

If you lend a friend money, then never see them again, it was probably worth it.

You can't use the SCP for private debts, in the OPs case it would be a District Court case that is required.
