    Hi all,

Looking for recommendations for carpenters/cabinet makers etc for custom shelving and cabinets for our living room wall. Location in south co. Dublin.

Preliminary design in attached pic. Most would be open shelving but a few cabinet fronts (e.g. to lower left side where black handles indicated, to lower part of chimney breast etc).

Materials would be 24mm birch ply and cabinet fronts would be mainly white MDF and some wicker cane to chimney breast cab).

    Cheers,
    Adrian

Looks like either of the following would suit your needs, no affiliation, I'm just aware of both:

Cool. Thanks. Any rough idea of what I should expect in terms of costs?

No idea of the details unfortunately but custom cabinet making is not going to be cheap. You're paying for an expert's time and effort to produce something that'll fit perfectly into a unique space.

Materials and construction will play a part too. The painted MDF cost will be lower than getting something made from aesthetically pleasing hardwood. Birch ply is costly in Ireland too unfortunately. You can get a good idea of the sheet goods cost by calling a supplier such as https://www.strahan.ie to get prices for 8*4 sheets of 18mm birch ply, MDF and MR MDF.

Another option if sufficient budget is available is to get modular, tightly fitting free standing units - if you go down this route and invest a little more (e.g. fine hardwood) you'll end up with legacy pieces that could move with you in the future if you move house, or could be passed on to other family members etc. as time goes by.
