Something has to be done about Irish law and the judiciary.

Any form of child abuse should carry a mandatory sentence. None of this suspended sentence bullshît.

Precedent has been set. If she had sentenced him to prison he would have appealed it (paid for by legal aid most likely) and would have won his appeal...because of precedent.

What does this have to do with 1916 fighters?

Isn’t the issue that prison is too expensive to put people into?

I mean. I don’t get it. Only a sick fûck get a text asking if you want to see child porn, and says yes. Then they find another video. Then another.

But the judge is like. He’s a good man. A hard working man. The child porn wasn’t too bad. I’ve seen worse.

I meant what the actual fück?!

And his family says. Oh he’s a good hard working man. And his community sends letters vouching to his good character.

FÜCK! They are all sick fûcks

Child porn on his 2 phones and laptop and this 'judge' sees fit to hand him a suspended sentence, ie lets him off scot free.
What a banana republic we live in.
Worse still, his family 'supports' him.
He shoud be fcuked into jail for 5 years minimun, and the judge with him.

Has the sick cnut that sent him those images/videos been tracked down and prosecuted.??

Methinks judge Nolan has been anaesthetised to this stuff.... Which is definitely what we don't want in the judiciary, and should be grounds to oust him.

Not surprised tbh. We don't have a great history of child protection in this country.

How can you oust a judge? Mexican style?

I must wonder how stupid are some of these criminals?

This is similar to many notable cases where a husband drugs his wife with sedatives, she becomes totally unconscious and gets raped but the only reason she found out was that the guy recorded the acts on his camera.

I suppose pride/boldness is inevitable of criminals. Once they get away with it two times, they put their guard down. Same with drug mules.

My thread on similar issues. I am so sick of this crime not being punished. It's time we start a repeal style movement in this country to change the laws and protect our kids. The government and the judiciary are letting this place go down the toliet.

I doubt it. Nolan doesn't do prosecutions. Once you get a nice letter from some family member you can get off. God help the famalies of the kids in these videos, but Nolan isn't concerned about that. This country is becoming a total and utter hole because of these people. We will have a Trump syle leader next in Ireland because people are becoming so frustrated by everything that's just imposed on us and how weak of a country we've become.

Judge Martin Nolan has lots of previous for giving suspended sentences to paedos and sex offenders, why he has such empathy for these types of people is an interesting question.

Set up a third part, unbiased committee of sorts that reviews and possibly overrules all judges rulings if they are deemed to be not sufficient? All you ever hear these days is rapists or abusers getting sentenced to a few years, as well as many suspended sentences being given? Wasn;t it just a few days ago a grandfather was found guilty of sexually assaulting his grandchild and all he was given was 4 years or something?? WTF is the point of suspended sentences anyway? It's a joke.

Won't happen. It would need to be public pressure to make change. Get on to your local TD and complain. I know I will. The more people seek change the more likely it will happen. A government appointed committee will do absolutely nothing.

Is there now way to force retirement due to obvious lack of facilities? His sentences seem to be the outlier a lot of the time.

At a minimum he should not be appointed to this category of case any more

That is why they should switch to mandatory sentences for crimes and take away the discretion from judges. Because the judges abuse that right and not for the good of the public. IMHO

He was granted bail on his own bond of €100, with no conditions and no cash lodgement required. He had also been granted free legal aid after the court heard he was retired.

Julius Medeiros (55) said he had been sent a text message asking him if he wanted to see the video and he had replied yes
As you do, when you're a pedo
A follow up search found a second video on another phone and a third video on a computer at Medeiros's home
As you have, when you're a pedo

Why is it not reported WHO sent the video?
Was it three separate videos on the devices, or the same video replicated over?

We cannot predict the future but they say that the first sign of madness is to keep doing the same thing and expecting different results.

We get the government we vote in.... they make the legislation (policy) and the legislators nominate the judges.

I'm new to this thread and I want to make a suggestion about the language people use when talking/writing about the images and videos featuring children being sexually abused and raped. Please stop calling it child pornography... that implies that these children are in some way consenting or participating of their own free will, just like the adults who do participate in the pornography industry.

    They are not.

Let's start calling it what it is: images and videos of children being sexually abused and raped. Not any kind of porn. Using terms like child pornography is making it sound like it's a special sub section of a perfectly acceptable type of entertainment.

It is guaranteed that every single person who has posted on this thread (including me) has friends or family who look at this savagery regularly. It is not very unusual. It is just so bloody disappointing.
