What's the social/fun word on mercury amalgam fillings?

I was flicking through reddit some days ago and came across an old 60 minutes documentary on mercury amalgam fillings.

I gotta say, given the number of grotesque degree faux pas's committed by the health industry over the years, in addition to the fact that as of last year, mercury amalgam is planned to be eradicated from dentistry across the EU - it gives, how you say - pause for thought?

Now - there are some well established individual case studies where alleviation of rather profound symptoms was brought about by removal of mercury fillings.

There's others that claim that the level of mercury released is somewhat below the FDA safe approval limit and, this being the case, the kidneys have the capability to filter out any ingested mercury before it does damage.

    Who's to know?

Know anyone who had mercury fillings removed?

Did if affect them positively following the removal?

They're generally considered safe, but as with everything there can be mistakes made by the dentist and manufacturing and some people can be sensitive to the small amounts of mercury.

They should be phased out since we have better materials available today.

Safe levels - radiation from mobile phones and every sort of electronic device, microwaves, water, food, everything is produced to be within the established safety levels. Who really knows what the safe level is? Is it really safe?
Is prolonged exposure at safe levels harmful? Does anyone really know?

    Here's the 60 minutes report.

"If my mouth was a building - it would have been condemned ten times over".

Obviously relative to levels of mercury in the air.

I mean, a statement like that is always gonna get your attention.
