I would say I buy something or spend money on bills nearly every day.

    What about you?

I can see how much the elec/gas meter is costing per day. I've not spent any actual money since Monday. There may have been a DD in the last day or two though.

    No, not everyday.
I try bring in lunch to work everyday.
So that helps when it comes to spending money.
Though I'm not the biggest fan of cooking, so if I'm around town and hungary I'll usually pick up something to eat rather than cook when I get back.

If you consider i drive to work each day a small bit on fuel yes. But Monday - Friday no, I could actually go without my wallet. Free lunches in work, free coffee, buy the multi pack of weetabix which lasts me a month for breakfast, one big grocery shopping fir the week maybe 40 euro...

On the weekends yes, cinema, food, just general been out and about.

No, have a tight rein on my finances, save as much as possible and some days I spend nothing. I work from home so no bought lunches.

Unfortunately its about €13 a day for me, Couriering means out of bed before 5:30. Grab breakfast and coffee/tea about €8 and €5 in the afternoon for sambo and bottle of water... Must try and get these costs under control..

      It adds up so easy,

      Lunch 10-15, coffees drinks 5-10

Usually dinner with pints 3-4 days a week, 40-60€

Working in town really makes it hard not to spend anything - then again working in a big isolated office in the suburbs encourahes you to leave and go for a walk and in the rain you end up in the local spar/centra - they start to look at yiu oddly when you walk around the shelves every day and buy nothing!

I used have a sit in coffee every other day but since the shops almost universally put up the price of a coffee to e3.40 Ihave avoided it. The tenner or e15 is almost invisible in my wallet but I miss the ritual of it -I hate feeling like Im being ripped off though.

Sometimes I clear the head by going for a long walk and try not to get munchies en route (esp an icecream in this heat) or a take away dinner on the way home to avoid cooking. It is getting harder now that every other beauty spot or beach has an icecreamvan, pop up 'gestibal' or 'garden market' at it.

My cousins neighbour owns a takeaway and recently bought the next doors house for 340k -cash. At the rate I spend money on boredom eating I understand how.

Well worth the cost of it imo over the chore of planning, buying, preparing and bringing a lunch that’s not as nice or fresh as what you buy and you can’t decide what you feel like at lunch time you have to eat what you brought.

I spend about 6 to 7 euro a day on lunch and to be honest it’s very little really imo.

The life of the 1% :P

I can go a couple of days without spending. Snacks are the undoing of me though - I bring in lunch and cook dinner for the most part, but sometimes will grab a fresh bottle of water, a coke, or chocolate.

      🤪

Completely stopped buying breakfast or lunch at work, and gave up the fags (was never a heavy smoker anyway) a few years ago, as well as going for little "snacks" to the vending machine and shop. Not only have I lost weight and feel better but I have saved an absolute fortune. Seriously, anyone who buys lunch every day, I urge you to try bring in your own lunch for a week, you won't believe how much it actually saves you.

Still buy a coffee after lunch every day, though, it's the one thing I just can't give up.

€2 per week for the works lotto. I bring a lunch each day and don't really bother with tea or coffee.

Apart from the likes of electricity, I would buy my lunch on some days although I'm trying to be better with bringing it in.

I drive an electric car to work so would use some electricity doing that also.

I try not to, actually pretty much made it into a game now trying not to spend anything a day.

Ive only recently started using YNAB and sweet Jesus...the sheer amount I spend on clothes made me sick! Despite having ‘nothing to wear’ I could probably dress everyone in this thread. TWICE!

At that price, I’d be bringing lunch in!

      What's YNAB?

It stands fo You Need A Budget. It’s a “give every dollar a job” budgeting tool that allows you to plan where exactly your money goes and how to save for future expenses. You can get it in an app and desktop.
The apps great for on the go, but the desktop really is the way to see a complete breakdown. Also there’s a Toolkit extension for it for Chrome which really helps.

Jesse Mecham has great chilled out videos on YouTube on how to use it and you can get it free if your a student. I used a link that for me four months free but I’ve paid the $75 for the year as it works out about a takeout coffee a month.

Best thing ever for someone who has a severe Penney’s addiction!

That's at least €120 a month just on lunch if you're buying it 5 days a week.
That's what I spend on my entire food budget for about 3 weeks. And I eat well.

I'd find it impossible to spend that much on lunches no matter how much money I'm earning. My parents were very careful with money so I guess I've inherited it.
My partner is the same and abhors debt (German) and he'd be disgusted if I spent so much on eating out :pac:
      but each to their own...

Tons of direct debits and we shop for food most days, depending on what we want for dinner. Wade through over 3k a month. No mortgage thankfully

To be honest I see 120 euro a month as very little and well worth it, I’d spend more than that again on eating out and takeaway a month as well as I’d do that a few few times a week (for dinner or going on for breakfast on weekends etc) and again wouldn’t bother me in the least.

If you are living hand to mouth is one thing but for people with a good income I find the whole penny pinching around lunch and trying to spend as little as possible on eating in general as just being needless hardship and a big chore. I haven’t brought my own lunch on a regular basis since primary school, I simply don’t like doing it and much prefer buying a nice fresh sandwich or roll and having the choice to go to different places depending on what I feel like come lunch time. Also it’s not 120 euro versus zero, you still have to spend money on lunch stuff if bringing it so that brings down the differential a lot.

It’s not about penny pinching If you have the culinary skills and knowledge to make vastly superior lunches to the likes of Subway and other ghastly deli’s that you frequent for your breakfast and chicken rolls.

Buying the highest quality fish, meat, fruit, veg and condiments mankind can offer to make varied, tasty and varied lunches is cheaper than buying the plastic, prepared, pre cut junk and crap that people shove down their necks every day.

Used to be a takeaway 3 times a week. Stopped recently and really notice the financial and health difference.
