Just reading the application form for invalidity pension , it depends on your prsi contributions etc, am just wondering why it asks about any private pension you have. I'm wondering if you have a private pension would it go against you being granted an invalidity pension?

The IP is based on your PRSI contributions and is not a means tested payment.

So just fill in the form to the best of your ability, provide them with all of the requested information and, if you have enough PRSI contributions, you'll get the pension irrespective of any other private pension that you may have. Seems crazy I know, but it's their game, their form and their rules.

This has puzzled me for years. It’d be interesting to see if there would be any further enquiries from SW if an applicant just ignored that question and carried on with the rest of the form.
    Give it a go OP!
