Female police officers

Saw Live PD on YouTube about cops in America patrolling around. There were a fair amount of female officers but none of them ever took down male or female suspects.

As un-pc as it sounds, I imagine that its still unsafe for them . A lot of male officers can't even take down guys high on PCP. Two of them in one episode were on top where a guy was biting them. They needed to taser him for a minute and had to called another policeman stood on his head.

Can you imagine a female officer doing that? Even with a female suspect.

    What do you think

It's unsafe for most Police/Garda these days regardless of gender. Wouldn't do that job no matter what the pay let alone for the sh1te money the government give them.

Those American police officers would be fairly useless here so. They'll be stuffed if they have to arrest anyone driving a fairly recent Tucson CRDi, Sportage, Dacia Duster or Opel Mokka Gangland X

I have no issues with male or female cops once they are up to the task and from what I see a lot aren't....

Maybe the Irish ones but the American ones are definitely better.

to be fair, this may be unpopular but I think they need as many guns as they use. American culture has become to embedded with guns and violence to ban it like Australia/UK did with their shootings.

I would say most gardai would get f*cking battered though in the ganglands of the States (Chicago. L.A.)

In Ireland a ordinary Hyundai i40 with less lights then they had back in 2007 is actually deemed adequate....

I've complained to the top brasses and I got a statement stating the lights are up to EU standards.

Funny how one can't see any lights from the rear of an i30 or i40 when the blues are lit..... But ah sure it's Ireland and it's fine

The Irish can't even get uniforms to fit

On plenty of occasions I've watched youtube videos etc and they literally can't cope with male aggressors and get thrown about. Often you'll see it's the male officers tackling a suspect on the ground whilst the female crowd controls. But whatever I guess it's not actually an issue I'm terribly interested in.

I remembered post Gulf War 1 when there was an open season to find the Ba'ath Party deck of card heads. Anyway there was a guard I knew from Limerick, based in Dublin, that was up for heading over to track some down for the bounty money. I said to him to stick to Moore Street.

There's a hole in the ground outside Pearse Street Garda Station.

    Gardaí are looking into it.

I have a couple of Friends who are Garda and both have said they are less likely to make an arrest on suspect if they have a female Garda with them,

As long as they can get the job done, they're fine

I saw gardaí driving around in a nice new BMW suv the other day. According to this, AGS have the BMW X5, BMW 5 Series, and BMW X5 (armoured) among their vehicles. A far cry from the Ford Escorts of yonder years. I thought when they started getting Ford Sierra garda cars, it was the top of style.

The BMW X5 cost around €110,000 each, according to this, so it would be interesting to hear the justification for that spend.

So when they turn the blue lights on they have one light on the front dash(no bumper lights that once were fitted), the rear lights were fitted in the back window so could be seen, the latest batch since 2014 have the led light fitted in the rear indicators and can't be seen day or night from the rear...

If you stand perfectly at a 45° angle to the side you can then see the blue light....

    Extremely dangerous

Gardai seem to go on patrol in pairs , or 2 or 3 .
i think there has to be female gardai, in some case,s its easier for a female garda to deal with a female suspect .
theres probably a rule x per cent of gardai have to be female .
When they take on new recruits .
even the us marines are accepting women as recruits now.
gardai work on check points ,go on patrol , they probably spend most of their time doing routine work,
    with arresting anyone.

So is a cousin if mine.

Years ago he broke his toe when he tried to deliver a karate kick to what he thought was a burglar. That was his story.

His wife told us a different story ,the two of them were lying drunk in bed in the middle of the night when he thought he heard a noise in the house.
He jumped out of bed and kicked a dark figure in his bedroom, turned out it was his shadow on the wall that he kicked.
