He fancies himself as a lord of the demesne, ultimately in Dalkey space is a premium. Trying to control development outside the parameters of his property is naive. Sympathy in short supply.

    Total NIMBYism.

Everyone wants houses built, no one wants them built next door.

Its far from over yet, strong grounds for a judicial challenge in my view and Lord knows if there's anywhere with the money to take one, its in Pat's neck of the woods.

If you wanna live in Dalkey you are gonna be cramped.

Its not like the mountains or the country etc. You can't expect country views there.

If he lived anywhere else maybe Dalkey though? Its the priciest place per sq meter.

Kenny and others should be fighting this all the way to Europe! A wildly expensive block of flats serves no one particularly. 24 units in 1.4 acres! It ruins the views, adds feck all to the housing stock and will make some developer richer than he deserves to be. And here's the thing - I bet the houses of that road are still there years after the block/s have been torn down.

If I was the owner of that site I'd have invited the Travelling people to stay there while planning was being held up.

24 units in 1.4 acres isn't a massive number at all.

I don't have much time for Pat.. but it's an ugly development.

What is up with so many local Dalkey applications being overidden, against the planning officer and local council's concerns?

We have a four storey 'cube' overlooking our two storey, person wanted sea views, where that was not possible without towering over the row of semi detached houses in front of it.. The cube sits in someone's garden.

I wouldn't mind, but a lot of what is being built has no charm whatsoever, and tarnishes quickly (external wood decor, cheapest materials etc)

Someone did that a mile away from where we live. Nobody cared it didn't work. :D
