Firstly, this is not traveller bashing. I'm genuinely interested in what people's opinions are and some possible solutions.

The way travellers keep organising street cleanups and charity events without Garda permits.

Sick of the noise of them cutting the grass and sweeping the footpaths at 7am around here!!:mad:

Build more prisons specifically for them, massively increase custodial sentences for repeat offences, get tusla involved straight away and remove children as soon as theres a whiff of teaching them to be involved in criminality or being withdrawn from school. Offer free contraception, mount ANPR cameras at the entrances to all halting sites, mount other security cameras on roads leading to those enterances. Introduce the scrap metal register and have a minimum mandatory that cant be suspended for theft of valuable metals, only offer social welfare in exchange for full participation in reading/writing/numeracy and leaving cert equivalent courses. Allow publicans to bar them at will, Have revenue raid weddings and funerals, cut off funding to pavee point.

Umm we ignore them and leave them live their own 'lives' and stay far away most of the time.

Does most people fine! Dont mind them as long as they're not near ;)

    The nasty ones, that is.

I know this seems a bit ott but I believe that statutory sterilisation at birth would solve the issue.

Not near you, you mean. Unfortunately such is the planning of this country that they are always near somebody and when they misbehave and get moved on they get near to somebody else and round we go again.

    This too shall pass.

Not to mention in contravention to the UN charter on Human rights which Ireland is signed up to.

    This too shall pass.

    You bunch of hopelerss racists.

    I feel real disgust.

You should just try being a Traveller.

The OP asked a fair question is a reasonable tone.

The answers posted so far would get you in jail if they were said about, (*for example) Jewish people, or Black people.

Sure, a cliché offers a cheap score and a smug sense of self-righteousness.
Not at all helpful, though, and not in any way constructive.
    Grow UP.

    Easy.

All state bodies - gardai, courts, tusla, county councils, ISPCA, EVERYBODY just enforces the rules and laws at they are.

Simples. It can apply to everyone in society

I'd support treating them the exact same as settled people. No exemptions or rule bending. No prejudice towards them.

An obvious advantage, never having to a work a day in your life and being granted a free house worth several hundred thousands of euros. Despite it fundamentally being at odds with one's transient culture.

    Spare me your indignation.

Within the first few posts we already have someone sticking there head in the sand thinking there is no issues within the traveling community and another disgusting post about sterilising all travelers.

Yep ide say this will go the same way as all other traveler related threads on boards...

No. We have enough threads on the Travelling Community. Go contribute to one of those.

Yellow cards for joe swanson and Tony Tucker.
