Pregnancy fitness suggestions

    Hi All,

    But if a lurker. Anyway, I’m generally v fit, size 8. Gym daily with a mix of weights/cardio and enjoy training hard. But, now I’m 9 weeks pregnant, swollen and vomiting to beat the band. My body feels like crap because I’ve gone from lots to zero in a few weeks, mostly because of vomiting and early pregnancy anxiety.

    Has anyone suggestions on what to do to maintain some kind of fitness normality during pregnancy? I’m medically cleared and all that jazz, so just fitness advice please

    Trainers in my gym are uninspiring so I wouldn’t even dream of asking them. But if anyone knew someone with experience/expertise in pregnancy training I’d be open to travelling.

    since you're still in the first tri - did you have any issues getting pregnant? Sorry for the question but i work with pregnant clients all the time and would advice just walking and mobility work (all this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nqzpB6aZ-yE&list=PL7HyOap7lRnymC731RVV8Py2pXSjqdFX2 ) in the first tri if there have problems getting pregnant or staying pregnant.

    I have posted a pregnancy program playlist here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJw8dLoexK4&list=PL7HyOap7lRnySbQv-0-9FCQ3ijxMo3LTJ its perfectly fine but i really need to update it as its a few years old now but on the whole there isnt a massive amount id change - lift some weights (mainly body weight and some loaded movements), do some conditioning work but wear a heart rate monitor so you can see whats going on and do lots of core (palllof presses, planks, side planks etc )and mobility work

    When I was pregnant I was only doing yoga. I had a difficult pregnancy, so I could not train a lot.

    Now is the time for a bit of a mental battle too, you can still train but need to think of it as exercise rather than training. You won't be going setting any 1RMs but there's no reason to stop altogether

    It is also advisable for you to consult a doctor who will tell you what kind of workouts are right for you.

    What i was told when i was pregnant (healthy normal pregnancy) was if you were doing it before you got pregnant keep it going but lessen the intensity when you need to.
