No Rohan Dennis today, a day for Thomas to gain time on GC and a flatish course. La Course is on before, would be ungentlemanly to not let the ladies go 1st.
The only individual time-trial of the 2019 Tour will take place in Pau that has already welcomed two time-trials in the past: in 1939 (victory of Swiss Karl Litschi) and in 1981 (victory of Bernard Hinault). A powerful all-rounder, comfortable when the road rises could, like Hinault, seize the opportunity to capture the Yellow Jersey. A very special collector’s jersey that day marking the 100th anniversary of the Yellow Jersey.

Tony Martin taking it easy, Haga already passed him.

I've never seen a rider being caught so quickly. Tony was freewheeling for a bit when the cameras were on him.
Asgreen has caught him now too :pac:

Van Aert for the win, 2nd for Thomas.

    I hope I haven't jinxed Thomas.

Van Aert down, seems to be a bad one

I'm surprised Asgreen was so quick given that he's been at the front of the peloton for pretty much 50% of the race (with the other 50% being Tony Martin)

I am guessing he caught one of the hooks and it tore in to him? At first I thought it was leg break.

It's weird it looked like he'd hooked the signage tied to it maybe, as he'd have been tilting the top of the bike toward it going into the turn.

I would have thought the male/female hooks would have been oppositely labelled.

That looked like a horrific crash.

Schachmann has been off aswell from the look of him. Bleeding from his right knee and struggling home.

Contador suggesting that Landa would have a bike change on the course, will be interesting to see if it helps as I expect him to lose 2 to 3 minutes on the course today

Dan is losing a bucket load of time.

Doing worse than bardet, 41 seconds at 7km is not good.

Will be a shake up in GC today

Close for Mick Jagger there, only a fraction of a second off De Gendt.

    Crazy crazy stage.

Epic time trial DeGendt v Allaphillippe v Thomas on the road or best time in the shack.

Honourable mentions for Porte +9secs, + Uran +0secs, Kriuswijk +9secs, Pinot +13secs v the DeGendt bar!

    Bernal +1min

Mas' form is encouraging. He might f*ck some sh*t up in the mountains. Pity Bernal is poor, he'll be super domming to unseen levels.

Thomas -22secs all in the finish, waiting for Ala

Wow. He's such a special cyclist. I wonder can he improve his climbing in years to come.

Wow. I bet Team Ineos weren't expecting that!

Jeez, Alaphilippe. Gained 7 secs on Thomas in the last km, if French TV can be trusted.

Sorry to disillusion you but Mas was not a podium contender for me

He had absolutely no form but ability wise he always had a chance. Shocked he put in a TT like that.

Cant see why not, he looked good at the Suisse race, I think the long climbs now will suit him and definitely a challenger for a podium

A lot of others out now like Dan, Quintana, Landa, Porte, Bardet....

Potentially the most interesting Tour in many a year. TTs out of the way, 5 mountain stages to come and lots of fellas in with a shout. It'll be fascinating to see how QuickStep and Ineos play their cards and Movistar I guess. Looking forward to it.

Haha! Great sense of how to view your consideration of the importance of your own opinion to others!

I know that you didn't mean it in a condescending way but it read a bit like that.

You gotta wonder after giving it your all you should be wasted getting of the bike Roche style rather than hulking up and jumping all over the place, even Geraint Thomas looked flutered after

the winner didn't even look out of breath

Never been Alaphilippe’s biggest fan but by god do I want him to win this now as I can’t see the rest putting it up to Thomas

The next 2 days should tell us a lot about whether he can keep yellow to Paris.

Thomas put in a huge effort today and I wonder will that leave a mark for tomorrow. Hopefully some of the top 10 chasing time take a gamble tomorrow.

Van Aert has no broken bones. Huge laceration to his upper leg requiring surgery to close it.
