Disability allowance

    i guys.

I applied for disability allowance over 14 weeks ago due to severe low mental health issues. It has been in going for well over a year but only in the last few months I have realised I need some financial support as I haven't been working. I am in my 20s and my family generously have helped out with food and i have returned favour by cleaning and cooking etc.

I dont do much if any extra curricular activities or hobbies etc. But I realised I am entitled to disability if awarded.

I applied and I have recieved a letter asking for 6 month bank statements and explain how I have supported myself 12 months.

As I haven't had an active bank account in over 5 year that's not possible but also will it go against my claim for disability if I explain that I have been living with my mother and she has been helping out? Will they see this as I can still be dependant on my family.

I really need some I dependence and my own income and hope it can help me regain confidence as I dont plan on being in social welfare for years. I want to be on my own two feet but for now I need support.

Any suggestion or answers how I can explain this the best would be great.

Hi. Your parents income isnt taken into account for disability allowance so I would imagine you will be ok.
They are probably making sure there hasn't been any payment activity in your account for the time you have been unwell

You will definitely need to explain how you have apparently supported yourself all this time ,
