Non-conducted test

Test yesterday didn't go ahead unfortunately. Everything was going fine until tester sat down in passenger seat. The drawer on her side didn't close. She got out of the car and talked to her colleague who said "It's up to you, if you want to take it then take it, if it bothers you then don't". She then got back in the car and told me it was a health and safety issue and if I braked suddenly somewhere the drawer might hit her legs. It did pass the NCT when the drawer wouldn't close and I would say it's a bit of a stretch saying it is a health and safety issue but anyway it's her call I guess. What irked me the most was that she didn't even slide the passenger seat back which meant the front drawer wouldn't have touched her legs at all.

So what's the verdict. My fault for not being able to fix the front drawer or her taking a nice convenient break...I mean sliding the passenger seat back doesn't seem a big ask and I did take a day off work and pre-test prep and other stuff to prepare for this. Is it a big ask to expect that the test should have gone ahead?

Just to add after the test she behaved a little strangely, underlining the number I should call to get on the cancellation list, "Look I have underlined it for you there" as if she was doing me a favour or something by underlining a phone number. She also showed me a passage in the guidebook about the car not being roadworthy or something but it passed the NCT with this issue...a bit of a ballache all in all

    What's a drawer? Glove compartment?

Not unreasonable. Projecting dashboard objects like keys and switches used to cause horrific injuries.

You cannot be serious. You should at least get your money back or a free re test.

On what planet is an open glove compartment a safety issue

An NCT certificate shows that the vehicle conformed to the testing criteria on the day of the test, it is not a warranty, you know like anyone else in this lovely country that the NCT is a lottery anyway. It's very apparent you knew this in advance of the test and made no effort to sort it, i would have screwed it shut or even glued it if possible. As much of a pain and inconvenience it was to you OP it's 100% on your lap and you must accept that. You know yourself that had this issue not arisen then your test would have gone ahead and you'd have been posting in the Successful/Unsuccessful thread instead.

Best of luck on the next occasion.

Fair enough but I actually had zero worries about the compartment as it didn't even come close to entering my head that it would be a cause for concern or had potential for non conducting of test. Lesson learned I guess, I will be ripping the fecker off for next time, just hope there is no other made-up excuse like if the open empty compartment causes them to ponder on the existential nature of existence thus causing them trauma thus another cancellation and extended fag break for them.
