Looking for recent popular films

I haven't been to the flicks for a good few years and so looking for any decent film recommendations from the last 10 years or so. Any decent psychological on the edge of seat or good comedies would be great.
Some of the films I've enjoyed are:

The Hand that Rocks the Cradle; Cape Fear; Stand by Me; Alien; Withnail & I; Panic Room; Julie and Julia; Fargo; As Good as It Gets; Snakes on a Plane; Apollo 11; Misery; The Departed; Dog day Afternoon; Groundhog Day; Phone Booth; The History Boys; Fight Club.

I'm sure the above have made some impression on other posters as well and I would really appreciate any recommendations of similar that I've missed over the last few years.
    Thanks in advance

Prisoners. Blue Ruin. Green Room. Sicario 1 & 2. Argo. Hold the Dark. Wind River. Hell or High Water.

Comedy: Death of Stalin. American Animals (heist movie with some funny moments).

If you've not seen Amores Perros I would highly recommend seeking it out.

Exactly what I was looking for as I haven't seen any of them.
    Thanks

    Miss Sloane, from 2016.

My best film of that year, I don't know anyone who's seen it

I believe it was buried somewhat on/before release thanks to the pro-gun lobby who feature strongly in the movie. It's a fantastic insight into political intrigue in the US.

I can verify that this is a very good watch.

    The Gift (2015)

    Nocturnal Animals (2016)

    Get Out (2017)

Three very good films of the psychological/thriller genre

I know it's an old one, but Runaway Train is a good watch. From the 80s.

The Brothers Grimsby. Comedy. Ignore Rotten Tomatoes, Yanks don't get it.

71 is a good thriller set in Belfast.

A superb Spanish language crime thriller/mystery is The Invisible Guest, ignore any negative reviews. It has you hooked throughout.

Wild Tales is an excellent Argentinean movie with humour and thrills. 6 short stories which are all very enjoyable.

Sorry both are in Spanish, some English ones I can think on a whim would be Nightcrawler or Ex Machina

Ex Machina didn't do it for me at all. Lot of people love it though.

I've posted on another thread about Paddy Considine, a great actor and director.

Not sure if it fits the bill for OP, but worth checking out IMHO.

Journeyman is his latest, very accessible, some of the earlier movies are great but hard viewing.

I thought it was over-rated as well. I am Mother on Netflix is (surprisingly) good.

I thought 'The Campaign' on Netflix was a very good comedy. Zach Galifianakis being Zach Galifianakis and Will Ferrel being Will Ferrel.

Not sure if these fit into the thriller area but I enjoyed the below
    Widows
    Hell or high water
    Nightcrawler
    Wind river
Bad times at the El royale
    The guest
    Elle
    Sicario

    Orphan
    Greta
Bad times at the El Corral

Bad times at the El Corral

I've heard good things about this film.
    Must give it a watch.

Oh that looks decent. Reviews are good anyway, not that I trust them so much.

SF has become more popular but so badly done.
    A shame.

    What about this:

    Compliance

    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1971352/

Nothing groundbreaking there, but worth a watch as a psychological study. Based on a true story. I really liked it. Acting was really good.

And a bit unbelievable at times, but it did happen. Even the scene with the jumping jacks exercise.

I might give that a sconce. Is it sci-fi or what?

That looks interesting. I really like Ann Dowd. She's very creepy and a great actress.

Watched Hell or High Water earlier. Good show. Thanks for the heads up for films that I probably would never have seen without your helpful recommendations.

Sicario 1 & 2 are on my to-watch list. Thanks Slydice for the reminder. (I'm working through El Duda and gmisk's list)
