Hi guys just a question to people that would know better, looking at a car at the moment, it's a new kuga from a main dealership no trade in and I'm wondering what's the profit margin they have on it,car is 41k being told the il get it for 2k less than the sticker price but I reckon there's more in them, I'm not under pressure to buy so no panic there, they have it in stock and the model is changing next spring and 2ltr diesel so may not be in big demand in the current phase I guess, how much more realistically can I get it down to? Thanks for any advice

This car is quiet old now. The last time it was revamped was 3 years ago. Be mad to be 39 never mind 41k for one. You would not want to pay more than 30k for one and the new model is due out soon.
Much better more modern SUV'S out now.

The Citroen C5 Aircross and the Peugeot 3008 are two of the best most modern ones. Mazda CX-5 is another really good one.

If you do by the Ford you want to get a far bigger discount than 2000 euro off.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

You can get a 1 year old Vignale loaded with everything including leather with 14k miles for 26 landed.

Ford heavily discounted these a few years back as a huge number of people jumped from a focus into a kuga. It's an OK car but overpriced at even 39k unless your in love.

End of life suv desperately awaiting new model and out matched by most other models.

    Shop around and read reviews.

39k is nutty money for a Kuga especially with a new model being launched early next year. As with most Fords, wait until they eventually heavily discount them.

I think they were giving €7k off them at one stage. You’d want rocks in your head buying a €41k Kuga considering how cheaply you can get them nearly new in the uk.

I'm assuming it's the vignal at that money?
Imported one (well titanium x) before.

19k for a 2.5 year old car from main dealer in the north and there were actually cheaper in England

At 3 years old that 39k car will be worth 18k??

The new model could make that worse.

If you have 40k then check out the volvo xc40. Probably the best suv in its class for similar money. Incomparable to a Ford kuga. Incredible seats and comfort.

You’re comparing a base model XC40 and a Kuga with €11k of extra spec over base model though.

I’m not disagreeing with your suggestion though.

Sorry haven't been back sooner, thanks for the input! It's an st kuga, all the extras, I couldn't see it coming down to 30k to be honest, the 2ltr is 3k over the 1.5ltr to begin with, I've been looking around for a spell the 150bhp ones are the only option for me, haven't seen a year old vignale for that money anywhere in the country, not really interested in going overseas,on the Volvo side the xc60 is very smart but haven't driven one yet, I feel on the one I'm looking at currently that there should be more off,end of stock with a new model out next spring but maybe I'm wrong, also forgot to add that is the 4wd version which I guess drives on the price aswel

St is no higher so than titanium +

They were 30k new in 2016 for the 2.0

That's why there's millions of them about.

You need to be careful here, Ford are demons for massive discounts from time to time.

I'm sure the ST with the 1.5 was under 30k before Christmas.

I drove a XC60 last summer and it was very smart. Decided not to change in the end but it was really a contender. My other half is very interested in one for her next car, a year or two old model with decent spec is a great buy IMO.

The Xc60 is in quite a different price bracket to xc40! Enjoy if you can get one, incredible car.

The suv market has some incredible contenders like tiguan, karoq, kodiaq, ateca, xc40, ch-v, q3, qahqai and 3008. I'd pick any one over the kuga any day.

Well see what Ford does with the new kuga because it needs to do a lot to match up to its competition.

They have already released details of the new Kuga:

Much nicer looking and a potentially good update. You can see modern styling que's it's taken from other major players. The last model does look very yesteryear in comparison but it was end of life cycle anyway.

Plug in hybrid options etc... Interesting.

Why must everyone buy these totally needless SUVs?
They're no bigger than a small family hatch inside and dreadful to drive yet cost a lot more to buy and maintain.

Buy a new Peugeot 508 and make our roads pretty again!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,360 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

It might seem needless to you but it might be right for the OP and its their money.

...'haven't seen a year old vignale for that money anywhere in the country, not really interested in going overseas,'
The point is,that they are available exUK vrt paid for that price.I found one and priced the vrt before posting.
So your 40k Kuga is going to cost you at least 3 ton a week in depreciation in the first year.

The xc60 it certainly wouldn't be new, maybe around '17 or so, I know nothing about them but the look of them,I'm not going breaking myself over any motor! The new model kuga doesn't appeal to me at all from what I've seen of them,it's lower and slightly smaller than what's there already, I suppose to get back to the original question is how much closer to the 30k mark than the 39k mark would they be likely to come? no fear in walking away from it but if I'm going to go new I'd prefer to do it sooner rather than later...
