another right of way query

we bought an old house and some land at the end of lane,it used to be an old estate house and land way divided up to local farmers back in the day.
I'm not sure if we have full ownership of the lane with the farmers having a right of way.

The question is, who is responsible to the maintenance of the lane. we will be driving cars on it so will try to keep it right but one farmer is tearing it up at the gate into he's field and leaving clay n small pools of slurry on it without care.
My other half want to clean off the sides of the lane and put down a type of kerbing and sow small trees and flowers either side of the lane going down to the house.
this might tighten the turn in the farmers field with loader on etc.

Could this turn in to a bit of a issue??
He did open another entrance to the field up near the top of the lane
this isn't on the maps as an official entrance or right of way access point.

Feel like leaving a shove and brush at hes keeps with a note to say keep the lane clean.

Firstly find out exactly about the ownership status and who has rights of way, don’t rely on hearsay. Have a solicitor make 100% sure.

Secondly, don’t start laying kerbing or such like until you sort ownership etc. Even then you can’t do anything that would impede right of way.

Third, don’t leave smart notes or you may find the pools of slurry larger and closer to your house in future.

we wouldn't be making the lane way narrower just tiding up the grass in front of the ditches.
wont be leaving a note or shovel but dont fancy having to drive through pools of slurry in my car either.
will check with solicitor but remember see the red line to say we own half the lane and farm had ROW to the gate way.

did he have a right to open another access point along the lane?

not looking a cause a row, just out of curiosity im asking
