Social Welfare and Self Employment

Hi, I've been self employed (freelancing) the last year, having been in full time employment for the previous 5 years.

While the first 6 months seemed promising, things have been pretty sh!te since the turn of the year. Barely surviving. Just wondering where I would stand (considering I'm registered as self employed) for any welfare payment?

As things stand, my earnings this year are just marginally better than had I been on the dole. Am I entitled? Also, how to they calculate your entitlements? Given the nature of my work, while it's very sporadic at the moment, I can earn €600-€800 for a couple of days work, so just wondering the implications of this?

    Thanks in advance.
