Pedigree Of The Day

Every now and then a minor winner or placed horse pops out of the results section based on pedigree. We very often tend to get overexcited about a horse based on pedigree alone, but the form book shows that being bred in the purple is no guarantee of success.

Today's pedigree is one of the most successful of all times at the sales ring. The 4yo filly Park Bloom ( Galileo X Alluring Park ) won a minor handicap today at Deauville, she used to be trained by Jim Bolger but was transferred to France. Despite her modest racing record she must be worth 1million Guineas ++++ and appears to be the only one of the Galileo X Alluring Park siblings to not have been sold. I think she was retained in the ownership of her breeders, probably to keep the bloodline at the stud for the future.

Her full siblings by Galileo all made more than a million gns at the sales.

Was a 1,200,000 gns yearling who won the Epsom Oaks. Was has had 2 runners as a broodmare, Darkness Falls and Globe Theatre both milers by War Front with modest rprs of 86 and 77.

Douglas Macarthur a 1,250,000 gns yearling who won the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial before finishing 7th at Epsom and 5th in the Irish Derby ( He moved to Australia and not much has been heard of him since )

Al Naamah a 5,000,000 gns yearling Filly who went to Andre Fabre's yard where she won her first outing in a maiden before placing in a series of listed and Gp3 races. She ran 8th in the Epsom Oaks.

Al Jassasiyah a 1,500,000 gns yearling filly who doesn't appear to have made it to the track. Al Jassasiyah has produced one runner a 3yo Dubawi filly called Mashael who has so far failed to hit the target in her 2 starts. She will make lovely broodmare prospect with that pedigree and has hit an 89 rpr which indicates that she could be decent yet.

Finally there's a 1,300,000 gns yearling Colt who was bought by Coolmore and called Amhrain Na Bhfiann ( pity the English commentators trying to pronounce his name ) who's now a 2yo in training with Aidan O'Brien and I think we'll see him running soon enough.

Park Bloom's dam Alluring Park is a daughter of Jim Bolger's mighty filly Park Express who was a winner of the Phoenix Champion Stakes. Park Express produced Champion Juvenile and Epsom Derby winner New Approach to a mating with Galileo and New Approach has turned out to be an outstanding sire himself with both an Epsom Oaks and Derby winner to his credit. This is a family that produces Epsom prospects, but the sales prices are probably a fair bit OTT.

Today it's the turn of one of the most prodigious families in German racing, a family that has successfully transferred into mainstream European racing in France and the UK.

Today the 5yo Waldfpad ( Shamardal X Waldbeere ) won the 6f Sparkasse Holstein Cup G3 at Hamburg. Not much of a race to be concerned with but it shows the speed influence that Shamardal can bring to a pedigree.

This is the family of Masked Marvel, Waldgeist and many more good German horses.

Waldpfad is a half brother to Wisenpfad a multiple group winning miler who earned €250,000 in his career which is no mean task in Germany. Their dam Waldbeere ( Mark Of Esteem X Wurftaube ) is a full sister to Waldmark ( more about ) Their half brother Waldpark ( Dubawi X Wurftaube ) won the Gp1 Deutsches Derby.

Waldmark produced St Leger winner Masked Marvel to a mating with Montjeu and she produced an Andre Fabre trained G3 winner Walderleche to a mating with Monsun.

Walderleche is the dam of multiple Gp1 winner Waldgeist ( Galileo X Walderleche ) and Gp2 Prix Mallleret winner Waldlied ( New Approach X Walderleche ) who were both trained by Andre Fabre. She has also produced Zetland Stakes 4th Waldstern ( Sea The Stars X Walderleche ) who was expected to step up this year for John Gosden but that hasn't happened yet.

It's a family that clicks well with the Sadler's Wells line and the presence of Wald at the start of any horse's name is reason to take note of the potential ( the Wald part of the names is German for woods or related to rule or reign over :) ).

Another member of the Wald clan runs in the Gp1 Prix Jean Prat on Sunday.

Urwald ( Le Have x Waldjagd ) is just a listed winner who's going to be out of his depth against the likes of Too Darn Hot. His dam Waldjagd ( Observatory x Wurftaube ) is yet another fine chip off the Wurftaube block.

A quick one today. The Fitri Hay owned State Of Affairs ( Giants Causeway x Circumstances ( Galileo ) ) won a 12f handicap yesterday at Haydock.

The dam Circumstances is a full sister to the highly thought of Telescope who placed 2nd in a high class King George and 3rd in the Juddmonte International as well as winning a Hardwicke at Royal Ascot. Circumstances' dam Veloutte is a half sister to Dubai World Cup and Dante winner Moon Ballad who won over 4 million dollars and also placed third behind High Chaparral and Hawk Wing in an epic Epsom Derby.

Veloutte and Moon Ballad are out of the Shaadi mare Velvet Moon who's a half sister to Gp1 winner Central Park by In The Wings and Mellow Park a Lancashire Oaks winner.

Buena Vista is another sibling by In The Wings and he was a smashing hurdler who finished 3rd in a Supreme Novices hurdle at Cheltenham as well as winning the Pertemps Network Finale hurdle at Cheltenham twice and finishing 2nd in the same race in another year. Velvet Moon also produced Velvet Queen who is the dam of Debonair who finished 4th behind Orfevre in a Japanese 2,000 Guineas over 10f.

There's plenty of old fashioned middle distance staying blood in the family so those who've backed Telescope as a NH sire should do okay, especially with the hurdlers as Telescope's 3/4 sister Mavalenta by Montjeu was a multiple times winning hurdler.

Falcon Eight ( Galileo x Polished Gem ) won a Listed 2m today at Sandown and by the lofty standards set by some of his family that's a bit of an underachievement.

He's a half brother to Free Eagle ( High Chaparral ) who won 2 Gp1s ( Irish Champion Stakes and the Prince Of Wales ) and Custom Cut ( Not Now Cato ) who won 13 races including 9 Stakes wins and Sapphire ( Medicean ) who won at G2, G3 and Listed level as well as finishing 2nd at G1 level. There's also a 3yo twice raced full sister to Falcon Eight called Search For A Song ( Galileo ) who placed 2nd in Listed company last month.

Their dam Polished Gem ( Danehill ) is out of Dermot Weld's Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Trusted Partner. Trusted Partner ( Affirmed ) also produced a full sister to Polished Gem called Dress To Thrill who finished 2nd in the G1 Moyglare Stud Stakes as a 2yo and went on to win multiple Group races as a well as winning a G1 in the USA as a 3yo.

It's a family that Moyglare Stud are keen to nurture so we should be hearing plenty more about it.

Last Look ( Pivotal X Gonbarda ) a full sister to both Farhh and Racing History made a very promising debut today beating the favourite by 5L when winning her maiden. Their dam Gonbarda was a dual G1 winner in Germany. Go further back in the family and you will find some serious quality winners and producers.

Gonbarda ( Lando ) is out of the dam Gonfalon ( Slip Anchor X Grimpola ) who is a 3/4 sister to Gryada ( Shirley Heights X Grimpola ). Gryada is the dam of the mighty Fame And Glory ( Montjeu ) a 5 times Gp1 winner and winner of Gp1s at 2, 3, 4 and 5. Gryada has another Montjeu produce called Yummy Mummy ( Montjeu ) who is the dam of 1,000 Guineas winner Legatissimo who won 3 Gp1s.

A bit of an odd one today.

Wild Hope ( Kingman x Wild Mimosa ) won a mile handicap today at Ayr. His dam Wild Mimosa ( Dynaformer X Sumoto ( Mtoto ) ) has been bred to some very good stallions but Wild Hope RPR 84 is her best runner to date.

She had a 300,000 gns yearling by New Approach who never ran in these parts anyway, a 165,000 gns Invincible Spirit yearling called Ghaith who is now a gelded 4yo with an RPR of 80 after just two lifetime runs both at 6f on the All Weather ( He should step up significantly with a step up in trip to 1 mile ) and she had an unnamed Australia filly which sold for 18,000 gns last year. Wild Hope himself was a 35,000 gns yearling.

Of more interest than Wild Mimosa's progeny are her own siblings.

Her dam Sumoto ( Mtoto x Soemba ( General Assembly ) ) has produced Gp1 Coral Eclipse winner Compton Admiral ( Suave Dancer ) and Gp1 QE II winner Summoner ( Inchinor )

As if that wasn't enough she also produced Twyla Tharp ( Sadler's Wells ) who finished a short head second in the Gp2 Ribbesdale stakes. Twyla Tharp produced the very high class triple Gp1 winner The Fugue ( Dansili )

That Australia half sister to Wild Hope could end up being very well bought at 18,000 gns .

John Gosden's Harrovian ( Leroidesanimaux X Alma Mater ( Sadler's Wells ) ) came good in some style yesterday when winning by 7L at the 3rd attempt in a 10f maiden at Pontefract. There's a broodmare legacy in this family that is fairly awesome.

Harrovian's dam Alma Mater ( Sadler's Wells x Alouette ( Darshaan ) ) has produced some reasonable horses, the best of them so far being the G3 placed Alumna ( Mr Greeley ).

Alma Mater's dam Alouette ( Darshaan x Alruccaba ( Crystal Palace ) ) is a much classier sort than her daughter. Alouette herself finished 3rd in the G1 Moyglare Stakes as a 2yo ( seemingly that was her very first race ) and was knocking on the door in black type races for the rest of her career with one listed race to her credit when she won the Oyster Catcher at Galway.

    Alouette produced

The very high class Alborado ( Alzao ) who twice won the G1 Dubai Champion Stakes at Newmarket and finished 2nd in an Irish Champion Stakes.

The 3 times G1 winner Albanova ( Alzao ) who went on to produce Gp3 winner Algometer ( Archipenko ) and 3 x Listed wins All At Sea ( Sea The Stars )

Alouette also produced Alakananda ( Hernando ) who is the dam of Epsom Derby 2nd Dragon Dancer( Sadler's Wells )

Alouette's dam Alruccaba ( Crystal Palace x Allaria ( Zeddan ) ) is an even more impressive broodmare than her daughter .

    Alruccaba dam of

The high class 2 x G2 winner Last Second ( Alzao X Alruccaba ) who is also a very fine broodmare having produced French 2,000 Guineas winner Aussie Rules ( Danehill ) Intrigued ( Darshaan ) who is dam of St Leger third Michelangelo ( Galileo ) and Private Secretary ( Kingman ) who won this year's Cocked Hat Listed Stakes for John Gosden .

Listed winner Approach ( Darshaan x Alruccaba ) has been a very successful broodmare who is the dam of G2 winner Midas Touch ( Galileo ) who finished 2nd in both the Irish Derby and St Leger, Coronet ( Dubawi ) winner of this year's G1 Grand Prix De Saint Cloud. Gooseberry Fool ( Danehill Dancer ) dam of the 750,000 gns talking horse Amedo Modigliani.

    Irish Oaks 3rd Arrikala ( Darshaan x Alruccaba )

G3 winner Alleluia ( Caerlon x Alruccaba ) dam of G1 Prix Royal Oak winner Allegretto ( Galileo )

JUDE ( Darshaan x Alruccaba ) dam of Quarter Moon ( Sadler's Wells x Jude ) winner of G1 Moyglare Stud Stakes, 2nd in Irish 1,000 gns, Epsom Oaks and Irish Oaks, dam of G1 Pretty Poly Stakes winner Diamondsandrubies ( Fastnet Rock X Quarter Moon ), You'll Be Mine ( Kingmambo x Quarter Moon ) dam of G2 winner Eminent ( Frankel x You'll Be Mine ). Yesterday ( Sadler's Wells x Jude ) Irish 1,000 Guineas winner, All My Loving ( Sadler's Wells x Jude ) 3rd Epsom Oaks and dam of 2 x G2 winner Thomas Chippendale ( Dansili x All My Loving )

Yesterday the Frankel colt King's Advice ( Frankel X Queen's Logic ( Grand Lodge ) won the 1m 6f Heritage handicap.

This is a family that not too far back had lost its way and overcame that to produce some big name racehorses.

Queen's Logic ( Grand Lodge X Lagrion ( Diesis ) ) herself is a 2yo 6f G1 Cheveley Park Stakes winner who hasn't managed to produce another G1 winner yet out of 10 runners to hit the track in these parts. She did however produce the top class sprinter Lady Of The Desert ( Rahy ) who finished 2nd in the 5f G1 Prix De L'Abbaye and won a G2 Lowther Stakes as a 2yo. Lady Of The Desert is the dam of the once exciting Frankel filly Queen Kindly who emulated her mother by winning the G2 Lowther herself.

Queen's Logic's dam Lagrion is something very special. As well as producing a 2yo G1 6f winner in Queen's Logic, she has also produced the Arc De Triomphe winner Dylan Thomas ( Danehill ) and the 25/1 1,000 Guineas winner Homecoming Queen ( Holy Roman Emperor ) and Remember When ( Danehill Dancer ) who never won a race but finished 4th in the Irish 1,000 Guineas, 2nd in the Epsom Oaks and 4th in the G1 Pretty Polly Stakes.

Remember When is dam of Wow ( Galileo x Remember When ) who placed 2nd to Legatissimo in the G1 Nassau Stakes as well as winning the 9f G2 Kilboy Estate Stakes at the Curragh. Remember When also produced Beacon Rock ( Galileo ) who won the G3 Gallinule Stakes as well, Bye Bye Baby ( Galileo ) who finished 3rd in the Epsom Oaks, Bound ( Galileo ) a Listed winner.

All that G1 class came from Lagrion who was 0/14 races and had a top RPR of 70. She nevertheless was a full sister to Michael Stoute's Pure Genius who finished 2nd in the 6f G1 Middle Park Stakes.

Further back there's QE II 3rd Gift Wrapped and G1 Oaks D'Italia 2nd Wrapping.

G1 Prix Saint Alary winner Siyarafina is being retired early for a new career as a broodmare. Apparently she's too valuable a breeding prospect for them to take any more risks with her, which is true, but wouldn't have been true if she was still in the form that won her the Saint Alary.

Siyarafina ( Pivotal X Siyenica ( Azamour ) ) is very closely related to the highly rated 2yo G1 winner and young sire Siyouni ( Pivotal X Sichilla ( Danehill ) ). Siyouni is a half brother to Siyarafina's dam the Listed race winner Siyenica ( Azamour X Sichilla ( Danehill ) ), sending Siyenica to Pivotal was a no-brainer that really paid off.

Sichilla ( Danehill X Slipstream ( Conquistador Cielo ) ) is also the dam of Siyouma ( Medicean ) who won G1s at Newmarket and Woodbine as a 4yo and was then sent to Japan where she had multiple foals to Deep Impact. Sichilla also had a Galileo filly Sayana who won at listed level.

Sichilla is a half sister to the G1 Grand Prix De Paris winner Slickly ( Linamix )

It's a good young family and it's odds on that Siyarafina will produce plenty of black type winners.

An unspectacular one today that's more about limited future potential rather than past brilliance.

Jessica Harrington's Nope ( No Nay Never x Bright Sapphire ( Galileo ) ) won a 6f 2yo maiden today at Fairy house. I doubt that she's going to go on to be much better than being a fair handicapper to Listed Class horse, but the name Bright Sapphire rang a bell for me as I can remember her Canford Cliffs colt Wall Of Fire who made light of his pedigree by being a decent staying handicapper who made the move from handicap class right up to group racing to a point where he was a 10/1 shot in Rekindling's Melbourne Cup. His best RPR of 114 was achieved when he came second in the 1m 5f G3 Geoffrey Freer stakes where he split the high class pair Defoe and Frontiersman.

Bright Sapphire herself was very limited with just two career runs with a debut RPR of 52 being the height of her performances on the track.

Bright Sapphire's redeeming factor was her pedigree being by the mighty Galileo out of 2yo G2 Cherry Hinton winner Jewel In The Sand ( Bluebird x Dancing Drop ( Green Desert. Jewel In The Sand brings in speed potential into Nope's pedigree as does No Nay Never so Nope can turn out to be considerably faster than Walls Of Fire.

Jewel in the Sand is a half sister to Triton Dance ( Hector Protector ) who produced the Teofilo colt Miblish who was a typical Clive Brittain overachiever running 5th in both a Coral Eclipse and Prince Of Wales Stakes despite having never won a group race.

The 2.00 Novices race at Newbury today has at least one potential G1 winner in it. I doubt that he'll be winning today and if he follows his siblings he won't be winning any group races at all.

    Oslo ( Gleneagles x Intercontinental ( Danehill ).

The dam Intercontinental is from one of the most extraordinary nicks of all time.

The mating of the Kahyasi mare Hasili to Danehill produced 5 runners and those 5 runners all won G1 races.

Dansili, Banks Hill, Cacique, Champs Elyesse and Intercontinental.

The 3 Colts Dansili, Cacique and Champs Elyesse have proven to be good sides with Dansili proving to be an outstanding Sire.

The fillys had a more mixed time as broodmare. Banks Hill producing the Listed winner Ideal World ( Kingmambo ) and the G1 winning filly Romantica ( Galileo ) as well Trojan Queen ( Empire Maker ) who is the dam of the highly promising G3 winner Sangarius ( Kingman ).

Intercontinental the dam of Oslo ( Gleneagles ) has produced nothing but plenty of very moderate runners which seems crazy given her blue hen heritage .

I think the problem with Intercontinental has been the mating plans, she has had no runner until Oslo from the Galileo line. With Galileo x Danehill being a hugely successful cross producing Frankel for Juddmonte I can't understand how they have left it for so long to try some Galileo on this outstanding mare Intercontinental.

Gleneagles brings in some tenacity and precocity, so here's hoping that this Galileo x Danehill cross can produce another high class runner, even if takes some time for Oslo to reach his potential he's with the right trainer for a slow starter.

A crossing of Hasili with Green Desert produced Heat Haze dam of the Frankel colt Mirage Dancer.

I was a bit surprised that the once raced and already placed, beautifully bred Niarchos owned and Jessica Harrington trained 2yo colt Free Solo went off at a generous 4/1 against a trio of O'Brien blueblooded 2yo's who were always going to improve from today rather than being primed to win.

Free Solo is possibly as well bred as any of the O'Brien colts and he had the advantage of being by Showcasing a sire of early types. It may have been a masterstroke to send Free Solo's dam Amuser ( Galileo x Six Perfections ( Celtic Swing ) ) to the speed influence Showcasing.

Amuser ( Galileo ) is an unraced sister to Yucatan ( Galileo ) a G2 and G3 winner who finished 2nd in the G1 Racing Post Trophy and was placed in multiple Group races, Faufiler ( Galileo ) a G3 winner in the USA who won won multiple Listed races in France for A Fabre and she also placed in multiple G2 and G3 races. Mount Everest ( Galileo ) who after winning his maiden then placed a close 2nd to Japan in the G2 Beresford Stakes and he hasn't made it back to the track since. Amuser also produced Planet Five G2 5f winner from a mating with Storm Cat.

Six Perfections herself was a triple G1 winner in the best of company over 1 Mile and she also managed to finish 2nd in both the English and Irish 1,000 Guineas. Six Perfections dam Yogya produced nothing of note bar the brilliant Six Perfections herself but Yogya is a half sister to the imperious miler Miesque ( dam of G1 winners Kingmambo and Miesque's Son )

Free Solo looks like a G3 winner in waiting who could go close in G2 company. He should be a consistent type and couldn't be with a more suitable trainer.

A timely reminder of where Enable gets her staying power from.

The modest chaser Culmination ( Beat Hollow x Apogee ( Shirley Heights ) ) took a 2 mile all weather flat race at Deauville yesterday.

Culmination ( Beat Hollow ) is a half brother to Concentric ( Sadler's Wells ) dam of flat racing superstar Enable,

Concentric is a full sister to the decent chaser Summit Meeting ( Sadler's Wells ) who was good enough to finish 4th in a grade 1 Novice Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival,

another full sibling to Concentric is Dance Routine ( Sadler's Wells ) who was 2nd in the Gp 1 Prix De Diane and won at G2 level before heading off to the paddocks where she produced Flintshire ( Dansili ) who won 5 G1s and finished 2nd in 2 Arc De Triomphes, she also produced Deliberate ( King's Best ) who is dam of the highly thought of G2 winner Headman ( Kingman ), Deliberate is also dam of Projected ( Showcasing ) who won a US Grade 2.

It's a fine family and they take their racing very well with most of them holding their form well over long careers.

All the attention today in the 5.20 from Gowran Park was on Japan's 3.4 million Guineas full brother Mogul ( Galileo X Shastye ( Danehill ) who also happens to be a brother to the Oaks second Secret Gesture who went on to sell for 3.5 million Guineas as a broodmare prospect, both those multi-million selling siblings have to bow to another ful sibling Sir Isaac Newton who was a 3.6 million Guineas yearling. Money is no guarantee of success, the most successful of these full siblings so far has been Japan who was a steal at 1.3 million Guineas. There appears to be another full sister who sold for 1.35 million Guineas as a yearling in 2016, I don't think she made it to the track.

With all the attention on Mogul the 3rd placed debut of Louisiana ( Galileo X Chintz ( Danehill Dancer ) went under the radar. Louisiana is a full brother to the classy miler The Ghurka. It's a little hard to enthuse about a Colt who was beaten 6 3/4L on their debut, but there was plenty to like about the way that Louisiana came home and O'Brien is notorious for his easy introductions. There was a Gleneagles colt back in 4th and the winner himself looked decent. I'd be very hopeful that this maiden will prove to be a source of some decent winners in the future. I think myself that Louisiana is a scopey looking sort who will end up in the classic trials next year. Further back in the family there are stamina influences and it's the family of Epsom Derby winner Authorised. Louisiana should be an 8-10f horse but there are enough stamina influences in there to allow for him being well up to 12f.

I usually like to look at the less obvious candidates but the Middle Park Winner Earthlight has a pedigree which promises much and threatens to scupper him at the same time.

Earthlight ( Shamardal X Winter's Moon ( New Approach ) ) is the first foal out of Winter's Moon to hit the track. As a daughter of New Approach Winter's Moon would have been expected to peak at 3+ but that's not what happened. Her career high came when he finished a 1/2L 3rd behind Together Forever in the G1 2yo Fillies Mile at Newmarket. She ran 3 times after that as a 3yo and was a shadow of her 2yo self.

Winter's Moon is one of five 100+ RPR progeny of the Darshaan mare Summertime Legacy.

The best of them was Manadaean ( Manduro ) who won the G1 10f 2yo Criterion De Saint Cloud. Manadaean didn't do too much after that although he won a handicap in Meydan running to within 2lb of his best 2yo RPR.

Wavering ( Refuse To Bend ) didn't race as a 2yo and had peaked by her 4th race as a 3yo when she hit RPR 112 when winning the G1 Prix Saint Alary. There was just 3 runs after that and she never bothered the judge in any of them.

Repercussion ( Manduro ) a full brother to Manadaean was a tough old handicapper who hit a RPR 106 high as a 5yo bucking the early maturing trend of the family.

Mister Green ( Green Desert ) was a moderate but extraordinarily flexible handicapper who won at 6f on his 2yo debut, he progressed up in trip as a 3yo starting at 6f and winning at 10f ( his best trip ). He went on to run nowhere in a 2m 4f Ascot Gold Cup and kept juggling trips of 6-12f for the rest of his career. He was mostly raced on the all weather.

Summertime Legacy herself was a G3 winner at a mile as a 2yo who finished 3rd in the G1 10f Prix Saint Alary as a 3yo and never reached the same heights again.

Earthlight comes from a G1 8-10f family with precocious trends. The Shamardal influence should make him an 8f horse who can stretch to 10f and the Shamardals are usually able to hold their form as they mature. With his pedigree, Earthlight should be a Guineas horse next year without the scope to significantly improve on his 2yo form unless he turns out to be a sprinter.

Highland Reel's brother Nobel Prize was the star pedigree at Leopardstown today and he ran well on the slow ground but had to give way in the end to Celtic High King ( Galileo X Homecoming Queen ( Holy Roman Emperor ).

In truth there's very little between the two Galileo colts in terms of which has the star pedigree. What Celtic High King lacks in illustrious siblings he makes up for on his Dam's side. His dam Homecoming Queen ( Holy Roman Emperor x Lagrion ( Diesis ) being a shock winner of the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket who made no impact on the track after that surprising win. Homecoming Queen's half siblings include Arc winner Dylan Thomas, G1 Cheveley Park Stakes winning juvenile Queen's Logic and Epsom Oaks 2nd Remember When.

Homecoming Queen has produced 3 foals by Galileo, the third being Celtic High Chief and the first 2 being the group placed Juvenile colt Berkley Square RPR 102, and the G1 tried Juvenile filly First Of Spring RPR 100 who finished 6th in the Prix Marcel Boussac.

The Galileo X Homecoming Queen mating works to produce group class stock. It's likely that Celtic High Chief will be group placed class himself. It's unlikely that he'll progress up to winning at Gp2 or G1 level, but maybe his siblings have been the underachievers and he'll be the one to go on to be a much better 3yo than his 2 full siblings were.

It's becoming more common for future group class horses to be learning their trade in end of season novice races on the all-weather.

Yesterday David Simcock's 2yo filly Oriental Mystique improved on her debut 20/1 4th place in a Newmarket 1m future stayers novice race by taking a decent looking 1 m novice stakes on the all weather at Kempton. She started at 4/1 and won by 1 1/2L.

What sets Oriental Mystique apart from others is that she's a Kingman filly out of the Simcock trained G1 winner Madame Chiang ( Archipenko v Robe Chinoise ( Robellino ) ).

Oriental Mystique and her dam Madame Chiang are/were owned by high class breeder Kirsten Rausing and trained by Simcock. Both made their debuts in the last weeks of October 23rd Oct for Oriental Mystique and the 22nd Oct for Madane Chiang.

This filly will be looking for serious black type in the spring and there's a very strong likelihood that Oriental Mystique will be targeted at the G3 Musidora Oaks Trial at York's Dante meeting.

Madame Chiang won the same race so it seems likely that daughter will follow mother. Madame Chiang went from the Oaks Trial to the Oaks where she finished a never threatening 10th of 17 and was put away until the Autumn when she blossomed on the Heavy ground at Ascot to take the Fillies and Mares Stakes with Irish Oaks winner Chicquita back in 3rd place. Her best after that was a 5 3/4L 4th in Postponed's King George.

Further back Madame Chiang's dam Robe Chinoise was 97 rpr rated and bordering on Listed class and her dam Kilinisi was a G3 Lingield Oaks Trial winner out of a Half Sister to the mighty Sadler's Wells.

This filly won't want for lack of class and there's plenty of stamina in the family. This is one Kingman that stands every chance of making it to the top at 12f. Although it will take Autumn Ground to see her at her best she should have enough about her to take a decent 10f race early in the year.

Last Saturday the two full siblings Jalmoud and Magic Lily ( New Approach x Dancing Rain ( Danehill Dancer)) ran in Meydan with varying levels of success. Magic Lily put in a career best 111 rpr run when finishing 2nd to a flying Barney Roy in the 1m 1f G1 Jebel Hatta, later in afternoon Jalmoud ran a subdued 4L 7th to Loxley in the 1m 4f G2 City of Gold stakes.

Magic Lily is a lightly raced 5yo mare that's going places, but there has to be a big question mark about her bringing her Dubai form back to Europe.

Jalmoud has disappointed since his 3rd to Japan in the G1 Grand Prix De Paris. He showed plenty of pace on Saturday but didn't appreciate all those turns on the Meydan track. His best runs 2 rpr 110 performances have come on Good to Soft ground, for now he's one that could win a gp3 or gp2 on ground with cut in it, a galloping track would be a big help to him. His best form last year was at the height of summer so it's probable that he will peak at that time again this year.

Dancing Rain ( Danehill Dancer x Rain Flower ( Indian Ridge) was a good Epsom Oaks winner whose own unraced dam Rain Flower ( Indian Ridge x Rose Of Jericho ( Alleged)) is a 3/4 sister to Dewhurst and Epsom Derby winner Dr Devious. Other notable siblings of Rain Flower are Archway ( Thatching) a decent sprinter, Royal Court ( Sadlers Wells) a G3 winning 12f performer,
and Shinko King ( Fairy King) a 6f G1 winner in Japan.

Dancing Rain herself is a 3/4 sister to the Danehill mare Sumora who is the dam of the G1 winning Galileo filly Maybe and Maybe is the dam of 2,000 Guineas winner Saxon Warrior ( Deep Impact) who stands a very good chance of being a significant Stallion. Sumora also produced Promise To Be True ( Galileo) a Gp3 winner and G1 placed as a Juvenile.

It's no surprise that Dancing Rain ( sold for £4 million in foal to Frankel.) has been sent to sons of Galileo with her 2 New Approach runners coming after she had produced a Frankel filly Windswept ( 2014) who is unraced. She also has a foal by Dubawi called Sakura Petal ( 2017) who is 3 this year.

As part of the Godolphin-Coolmore peace agreement Dancing Rain was one of the elite Godolphin broodmares that was sent to Galileo in 2018 and she visited him again in 2019.

While browsing the results on Sunday I noticed that the Loves Only You was the winner of a G2 1m3f race in Japan. She's by Deep Impact X Loves only Me ( Storm Cat ) making her a full sister to Dubai Turf winner Real Steel.

Thinking that I know the mares side is from Coolmores preferred bloodlines. I had a deeper look at pedigree and sure enough the dam Loves Only Me ( Storm Cat X Monevassia ) is a half sister to Moyglare Stud Stakes winner Rumplestiltskin ( Danehill X Monevassia ) who herself has produced G1 Yorkshire Oaks winner Tapestry ( Galileo ) and G3 winner John F Kennedy ( Galileo ) now a G1 sire in Argentina and the decent Why ( Galileo ) who was sold into Japan as a broodmare.

Monevassia is an unraced full sister to Kingmambo, both being by Mr Prospector out of the mighty Miesque.

Further down the field was Satono Lux a Deep Impact son out of Coolmore's Fillies Mile Winner Listen ( Sadlers Wells X Brigid ) one of many group class full siblings produced on that cross.

Listen is a full sister to the very classy G1 winner Sequoyah who produced multiple G1 winner Henry The Navigator.
