Car almost stalls when starting, but recovers fine

    Hi,

    Looking for some advice please.

When I start my car in the morning (or after work), it will engage properly.

But after two seconds, the revs will drop to 200rpm and it feels on the brink of stalling. It doesn't stall though.

One second later, the lull ends and the revs return to 750 rpm. Everything is fine.

Never happens with a warm engine.... just a cold engine. It's a Ford C-Max.

If I put my foot on the pedal and give a few revs when starting, there is no issue. Just when it's idling and cold.

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing that?

I've had similar symptoms (low idle plus stalling immediately after starting) a couple of times on petrol cars and seemed to cure them by replacing the battery or charging the battery or cleaning the battery terminals. I don't have an explanation for what may have been happening.

I'm having the same problem too on my A4 petrol. I'll check the battery thanks!
