What are you hmmmm'ing about? It says about two paragraphs that the poor unfortunate was a stowaway. Long dead no doubt only to fall out when the wheels came down.

Better off paying for an internal seat on plane and it wont be the last we will hear of these poor souls losing their lives.

    Mad and sad.

But how the heck could anyone survive the lack of oxygen at 33k feet cruising altitude, or the cold up there outside a pressurised cabin. The fact that he actually fell out over London is something else. With due respect.

Don't know where the plane took off from. Does anyone?

What a selfish person! Luckily he didn't land on anyone, as I kenya think anyone would survive being hit by the stowaway!

Can you imagine the absolute desperate conditions that would have driven him to try that. The heart has to bleed doesn’t it? We’ll have to sort it those loopholes

It’s happened here a few times. People in some of these places have absolutely no education and have never been to an airport or know nothing about flying and planes.

The poor man, an awful story.

To be fair you'd be more worried about Khan's city crime rate than folks falling from landing gear onto your summer roses.

Think last weekend there was x4 knife fatalities, cases of bagging and an unborn child extraction.
Couple of weeks ago x3 folks found with slash injuries in Clapham (where this plane faller landed).

An inquest into the stowaway heard he is believed to have survived freezing temperatures of up to minus 60C for most of the 12-hour flight.

flight from Nairobi landed shortly after the body was reported, i presume it was noticed and reported at the time it fell

Well I know what you are saying, yet this man was able to go airside and hitch a lift on the undercarriage of that plane. Wonder how he got into that space? All quite odd if no one saw him do it in the first place. Security lax at Nairobi maybe?

He didn't survive. His body fell out when the landing gear opened.

Was most likely as innocent as a child, he was dead by the time the plane reached full altitude after take off

The poor guy must have frozen to death at high altitudes it's more than likely well below freezing.

It's unfortunate that is for sure, probably was delighted he got into the plane.

The noise alone and as the plane ascending higher and higher the temperature dropped rapidly, he probably didn't think of the temperatures etc

Tories cutting Police numbers to the bone might have something to do with that craic. Continue to blame the mayor because he's not white and right wing though.

The flight originated in Nairobi, a nine hour flight to London. The poor creature would have lost consciousness as the plane ascended through about 10,000 ft, so after maybe 15 or 20 minutes that was the last he would have known, mercifully.

Some of the UK media are reporting that the body fell essentially as a block of ice and landed just 1 metre from some poor chunt minding his own business sunbathing. It appears to have landed on the head, which disintegrated and covered the garden walls in remains. Now thats either very lucky or very unlucky, you be the judge.

And if he’d hit said sunbather on the sanctity of his own backyard where would the sympathy shift to.

And the blame, I mean it really was centimetres let’s imagine it is our kid in the play pool not a care in the world only to be struck by someone illegally from the other side of the world. Is there any safe place from these people?

    .

Meh, people seem very interested in the stats since Khan became Mayor for some reason. Plenty were getting murdered while Boris was Mayor and no one seemed to care. Half the city was looted and burned on Boris' watch in 2011.

Don’t bring petty political leanings into this or you will reaffirm my stance

Even children have managed to suss out their right from their left and moved on from there. A man was inches from losing his life, when it’s literally raining illegal immigrants what defensive measures are we to take?

    1 drop isnt rain.

It was LITERALLY 1 person, not the non literal use of literally you used.

Of course it’s lax. Any flight I’ve had from Africa they put you through security again when you land.

Poor guy, must have been in a desperate situation to resort to this.

Hypoxia would have settled in pretty quickly after takeoff so I doubt he suffered much, or for long.

Some people on the ground may have noticed something but I doubt that the crew on the plane would have. They would have been on finals, given that the gear was deployed.

Not in most countries in Africa. Security is very poor in general. Most EU countries give passengers the once over on arriving from these countries. You could climb in the undercarriage of a plane. Plenty of space.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 894 ✭✭✭ollkiller

That poor man. To die like that through asphyxiation or -60 degrees temperatures after thinking that you are ok now you are on the plane. Dying alone like that not knowing that to stow away would lead to certain death. Just heartbreaking.

To see some of the comments on this thread i'm so glad i have empathy. Some of yer comments are disgraceful.

Climbing into the undercarriage plane that is going to be flying 30+ thousand feet in the air... yeah I'll go with not intelligent.

The fact there are jokes about this says more about the lack of empathy around here than the desperation of the poor guy.
