The battle of the provinces Day 3.

    Connaught Athenry 21.3°C Markee 19.1°C
    Ulster Ballyhaise 18.8°C Finner 18.3C

As Athenry has the highest temperature of the four stations a point is awarded to Connaught making it C. 2 U. 1.

Some pretty low temperatures were recorded yesterday morning but the MIN goes to Markee Castle 3.6°C I hope there me no lower temperatures for the rest of this month.
Yesterday’s warm spot and has been a pretty warm spot for the last few days is Mt. Dillon at 21.7°C. It would have stolen a point off Ulster if this station was included in the bonus contest.

Battle of the Provinces is got pretty heated but it is Ulster to score this time.

The battle of the provinces Day 15.

    Connaught Athenry 22.6°C Markee 22.5°C
    Ulster Ballyhaise 22.8°C Finner 21.7C

After a fight back from Ulster Markee comes up with the goods to keep Connaught running away just half way through the contest.

The battle of the provinces Day 16.

    Connaught Athenry 21.0°C Markee 22.6°C
    Ulster Ballyhaise 22.4°C Finner 20.7C

As Markee has the highest temperature of the four stations a point is awarded to Connaught making it C. 10 U. 6.

The battle takes on a new phase as more unsettled weather sets in for the next few days. It may throw up some interesting figures.

For the first time this month it is Finner Camp that scores.

The battle of the provinces Day 17.

    Connaught Athenry 18.9°C Markee 18.5°C

The Ulster fight back continues but watch out for lightening bolts that has become involved in this battle.

    Ulster Ballyhaise 19.6°C Finner 17.7C

A relative ceasefire is on the cards today. With the flashes and bangs going around it is our more westerly province comes out on top.

The battle of the provinces Day 19.

    Connaught Athenry 21.7°C Markee 17.5°C
    Ulster Ballyhaise 18.0C Finner 17.0C

As Athenry has the highest temperature of the four stations a point is awarded to Connaught making it C. 11 U. 8.

Some high rainfall amounts were recorded around the middle of the country with Claremorris recording 49.5mm with about 34mm fell in just one hour.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,475 ✭✭✭Jpmarn

The battle of the provinces Day 20.

    Connaught Athenry 18.0°C Markee 18.6°C
    Ulster Ballyhaise 18.2°C Finner 17.8C

As Markee has the highest temperature of the four stations a point is awarded to Connaught making it C. 12 U. 8.

Temperatures were down by a couple of degrees and it felt much cooler. The warmest places was Shannon and Moore Park, Cork at 19.7°C

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,475 ✭✭✭Jpmarn

This is going to be a complicated post because we have a tie on the Max temperatures from 2 premium stations one from each province. Therefore I’ll be taking the next highest maximum temperature to judge which province will win a point.

The battle of the provinces Day 21.
    Max temperature
    Connaught Athenry 19.2°C Markee 18.4°C
    Ulster Ballyhaise 19.2°C Finner 18.9C

    Min Temperatures
    Connaught Athenry 13.8°C Markee 13.6°C
    Ulster Ballyhaise 14.0°C Finner 14.2C

As Finner has the next highest maximum temperature of the four stations a point is awarded to Ulster making it C. 12 U. 9.
This post was made under my intreptation of the rules set by M.T Cranium and stands for correction.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,324 ✭✭✭✭M.T. Cranium

Thanks, you were right, in fact Ulster won both the tie-breakers in play but the first one is the comparison of the two cooler locations after the two warmer ones are tied.

Here's the rest of the update after three weeks ...

IMT stands at 15.8 C with the third week 16.5, 0.9 above normal. Will likely get pushed into mid 16s before slight downgrades later, might reach about 16.3 for end of month.

MAX will be revised after today as I noticed 27 on hourly report from Phoenix Park. (It was 24.2).

    MIN stands at 3.6.

PRC got a big boost yesterday (and before that at Claremorris), the month now sits at 99% of normal with this past week 230% on average, although Cork came in below average. Looks like another upward jolt later this week, despite the dry first half the month could come in above normal now.

SUN has fallen off to 106% with this past week only 73% of normal (438/600).

As tracked above by Jpmarn, the bonus question stands at 12-9 for Connacht vs Ulster.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,475 ✭✭✭Jpmarn

As our bonus question takes some twists and turns with dealing with a tie yesterday it much simpler. All the four stations had their max temperatures in the 20s with a new MAX for our overall contest.

The battle of the provinces Day 22.

    Connaught Athenry 22.6°C Markee 23.0°C
    Ulster Ballyhaise 24.1°C Finner 23.7C

As Ballyhaise has the highest temperature of the four stations a point is awarded to Ulster making it C. 12 U. 10.

Our New Max is 26.6°C recorded at Phoenix Park station in Dublin. It but out an hourly report of 27°C so it was rounded up figure.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,475 ✭✭✭Jpmarn

With just 8 days left this heated battle is all to play for the provinces.

The battle of the provinces Day 23.

    Connaught Athenry 22.9°C Markee 24.5°C
    Ulster Ballyhaise 23.3°C Finner 23.6C

As Markee has the highest temperature of the four stations a point is awarded to Connaught making it C. 13 U. 10.

Ironically the hottest place in the Republic of Ireland is also in the province of Ulster, Malin Head at 25.8°C .

  • Registered Users Posts: 708 ✭✭✭Tae laidir

I cannot remember any other day that Malin was the warmest! Very unusual climatic conditions.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,475 ✭✭✭Jpmarn

The battle of the provinces Day 24.

    Connaught Athenry 21.3°C Markee 21.0°C
    Ulster Ballyhaise 22.7°C Finner 20.6C

As Ballyhaise has the highest temperature of the four stations a point is awarded to Ulster making it
    C. 13 U. 11.

It looks like there will be no heat records broken in Ireland today but our capital seems to be the warmest part of Republic of Ireland in the last few days. The hottest place to be in on this Island is Belfast. But it will probably be about 14 degrees cooler than London today

IMT has soared to 16.3 after 24 days, likely 16.4 after today.
