Is fitting brake disks an easy affair ? The front ones on my car are warped and awful vibration coming in when stepping on the breaks.I want to change them myself. I found them online fairly cheap with new pads. Garage wants over 500 to replace disks and pads (spurious ones). I found disks and pads for less then 120 all in online.

If you are competent enough to do other bits and bobs on your car then yes they are easy to do..... If not then the brakes would not be the first DIY task to tackle as they are a little bit on the important side to get wrong!! :)

See below for what to do....

The question you need to ask before changing the discs is why are they 'warped' in the first place. Discs don't actually warp for no reason and the vibration in the pedal is most likely due to disc thickness variation. This is usually caused by excessive run-out in the wheel bearing.

You would need to measure the run-out in the wheel bearing and then in the disc when fitting. If it is above the tolerance for your car then you will just end up with the same vibration again in 7000-8000 km. This requires some special gauges that most people don't have in the garage.

It is a straightforward job but you need to be confident in your knowledge of how it's all bolted together and I wouldn't let it be the first DIY job you've done.
