Contract ended - advice needed

    Hello,

I am just finished 26 weeks maternity leave and my contract of employment with my employer is ending next week. I have never been out of work before and never signed on the dole. I may get a new contract in a couple of months when a project starts but for now I'm in a panic. I have 2 babies and my husband takes home €550 a week so not a huge amount to support us all.

Can anyone offer advice? I've been working for years so have enough stamps etc built up. Do I need anything from my employer to bring to the social welfare (my contact is naturally coming to an end and I'm not entitled to redundancy).

Anyone know will I just get the €203 a week? My salary was the main income in the house so we have a big adjustment ahead.

    Thank you in advance.

Based on the above, and assuming that you were paying Class A PRSI while employed, you should be eligible for Jobseekers Benefit - which isn't means tested.

See the following link for info. on the documents you need to bring with you:- https://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/reference/checklists/checklist_when_applying_for_jobseekers_benefit.html

You will need to complete this application form - so have a look at it and see if you've any questions.

Your JB payment isn't means tested, but as increases for your spouse or children are, you probably won't get them due to his income.
